Understanding the Authority of the Believer Part 2 by Pastor Don Moore
Part 1 is here.
John 5:25 Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.
Now IS. The dead will hear the voice of God and live. This is a prophetic hour, and won’t happen until Jesus raises Himself from the dead.
We are so bound to a 24 hour day. Pastor Don asked us if we wanted to live or die. Most of us thought about it, because most of us are not ready to die. But why would we not be ready to die when Heaven is so wonderful?
In the prophetic moment of John 5:25 – death, burial and resurrection, those who hear will live.
John 5:26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself,
God granted the Son life in Himself.
John 5:27 and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.
Jesus’ authority comes from the Father (God). He has life in Himself and not judgment at the time He was on earth, but there will be judgment. God didn’t want to judge – he had the covenant, the Ark with the Mercy Seat. If God judged, we would not pass judgment for he would judge in perfect holiness, no room for sin, no tolerance for sin. So God created the Mercy Seat on the Ark so that His people could come before Him. It wasn’t a chair or a seat. In Exodus we learn the dimensions, the fact that there were poles that were used to carry it by the priests assigned to that duty. There was a lid, and the Mercy seat was between the wings of the cherubs. In the ark was the manna, the 10 Commandments and the rod of Aaron. In the Old Testament God was merciful (merciful meaning pity.) In The Old Covenant, the sins were only covered, they were not removed. When we hear the term “Grace” in the New Testament it means more than unmerited favor, grace comes with power. Our sins are gone.
God now wants us as a coworker in His field. We stand in authority and attack an enemy that is minor. If we are working in everlasting authority, if sin is imputed it is a momentary affliction. Rebelion is a momentary affliction.
John 17:1-2 Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He shouldc]’> of men, another flesh of animals, another of fish, and another of birds.
All flesh is not the same flesh.
1 Corinthians 15:40 There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
Jesus has given us authority over ALL FLESH, fish, human, etc. When our flesh is flesh of a celestial body, we will never die. We can’t live in this fleshly body when it dies – for it will rot, so we have to change – and we change to a celestial body. All flesh is not the same.
We do not want to fall into the trick of the devil of believing that our problem is too big for God, believing the devil’s lie that God can’t do anything for us. Believing the lie that our sins are so big that God can’t forgive them. Any sin of the flesh can’t block God.
We all have something that God has not healed us from. Yet He can heal ALL FLESH. If you have a drinking problem it is not YOU that gives up the bottle, but God. Sin of the flesh is not to great or too offensive that God can’t heal us and cleanse us. We cannot let the sin of someone else stop His authority. We need to forgive. Every sin can be forgiven, even those that seem hard to forgive such as child abuser, murder, etc.
Does that mean that God is soft on those who hurt children? No. Jesus said, Matthew 18:6 Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
Pastor Don told us that we cannot preach a soft Gospel. Stop now and repent.
NO DOCTOR CAN DIAGNOSE DEEPER THAN GOD CAN HEAL.
Jude 8 Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries.
God responds to us the way we respond to who truly is in authority. How we respond to authority is important to God.
Fallen angels rejected God’s authority and spoke evil of dignitaries.
Under the old covenant, King Saul lusted after the flesh and rejected God’s authority – offering sacrifice. He got nervous about the battle, rejected the prophet’s authority and offered sacrifice. That made him out of position with the law, he was after the worldly viewpoint because he was more concerned about the opinions of the people. What Saul forgot was that God can win a battle easily no matter the odds. When Saul did the sacrifice, he rejected the priest and that also rejected God.
When David became anointed, even though he had ample opportunities to hurt King Saul, David said, 1 Samuel 26:11-12 The LORD forbid that I should stretch out my hand against the LORD’s anointed. But please, take now the spear and the jug of water that are by his head, and let us go.” So David took the spear and the jug of water by Saul’s head, and they got away; and no man saw or knew it or awoke. For they were all asleep, because a deep sleep from the LORD had fallen on them.
Under the Old Covenant God anointed select ones. Under the context of the New Covenant, because of Jesus’ anointing, His anointing transferred to us with His authority. We are all children of God under the anointing, and as such, we shouldn’t touch others with harsh words and evil speaking. The Apostle Paul tells us that we need to treat others as higher than ourselves, as if they are of dignitary status, treat others as the anointed of God. Then God can put us in a higher position and bless us, this respect is not just for the clergy but for all.
God established the 5-fold ministry, but this is not separated from the other anointed gifts, gifts of administration such as janitors should be treated with as much dignity as someone speaking with the voice of God.
1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. They will know us by our love, and we need to treat each other with love.
Our authority to move in God is based on how immersed we are in Love.
Galatians 5:6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.
Faith works through love.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
God so loved the world. We have to believe the Anointed One with the anointing and that anointing grants Him all authority over all flesh. That is why we are praising and saying that we receive the anointing and power which is granted to us through the grace of God. He has given us the anointing. We are not under Him, but equal in status and authority over our Father’s property in equal measure.
John 10:34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods”’?c]’> and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.b]’> will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
ALL AUTHORITY, and Jesus has told us that He has given us that authority and we are to GO. If we put a “but” on what God says, we limit Him, and we end up doing only what we think we can do. But putting a “but” on what God says, we desert our status and our power. God said ALL FLESH, and He means ALL FLESH.
Yes, we can be sick or poor for a time, depressed, confused, disheveled, but we can’t declare that is who we are, or say that our own status is lack and limitation.
We need to revisit our condition and our attitudes. The devil has only the authority we give him, if if we let him put stuff on us we can snatch our authority back and occupy. We want to occupy in the Authority of the One who has put us in position.
Joshua 24:14b But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
This is for the black sheep of the family too. We want no kid surrendered to the devil. Our Authority in God is so much bigger than what we have permitted God to do in our lives. Give God the whole enchilada, only in this way is our will line up with the Will of God, and then things can happen.
James 4:3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.
We need to line our wills up with God.
Praying this teaching blessed you. It has been one HECTIC week, so I am sorry for not posting sooner.
Have a blessed day,
Heather
