  • Off to the dentist this morning – ours is in New York City, hours away – so we won’t be back until late tonight – all five of us get our teeth cleaned the same day, usually around school vacations or days off - so it is a looooong day.

Anyway pray for me, I am petrified of dentists – and have panic attacks thinking. I am trying to not be afraid as God commands, but prayer can help in that regard. I keep telling myself it is just a teeth cleaning, just a teeth cleaning, sigh. I am still puzzled about some people’s careers and why they chose them. Dentists are universally not popular unless one’s teeth are hurting, then they are your friend.  Anyway, have a blessed day.

When I get back home, and can have access to the computer, I will try to respond to more of your comments. I appreciate your input into the Holy Spirit passages.

  • You will be fine. Cody’s girlfriend had to have a root canal last Monday and she said it was a piece of cake. We all had her in our prayers. We will have you in our prayers as well.

    Love ya, Darlena

  • Heather thank you so very much for your prayers during this time of pain for me! You are much appreciated! I will be praying for your dentist appointment! Maybe if you knew you could get a prize from the treasure chest it wouldn’t be so bad!!! :) Thank you again for your prayers!

  • Heather..I am with you on the dentist thing. Yeah, big ol me is scared of dentist. Actually they have to put me under in order to do anything other than cleaning. It is for their safety as well as my comfort :) Praying for you.. hope it all goes well. Although I am not sure if it would be the dentist or NYC that I would be more afraid of.

  • I will pray that you have peace. And safe travel. Old Hat

  • Oh Heather….I understand.  I’m petrified of any doctor these days, even having my eyes checked last year for a simple contact prescription at the plain old optometrist made me go into a panic attack.  I used to think that the doctor’s office was my social hour in my younger years and then when I had a few problems and ran into a few mean spirited docs and their mean spirited wives (horrors!)  I definately can sympathize.  Boy can I.

Sorry I haven’t been around much, I’ve been flying by the seat of my pants and with our little pet and all it’s been just crazy.  I’ll try to come back and read your entries I’ve missed.  I know they are probably as good and right on as always though.

Thanks Heather for the understanding and sweet comments.  You are a blessing.  Let us know how your day goes.

  • Believing with you for strength, Praise God!

  • I believe it is a universal fear!  There’s no worst patient than me so, you will be fine.  Get the gas to relax you, and with our prayers, you will be just fine!!!!  We don’t have gas here in Peru!  I asked for gas the first time I went to the dentist here and he just looked at me like I was out of my head!!!!!

  • Prayers for you to beat the “root” of that fear. I believe God can speak to the “root” and it will flee.

On the study on tongues I agree with your views, it surely has been a confused mess in many churches and we all have more to learn.

Chapter 14:2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him, however in the spirit he speaks mysteries. When we speak in tongues we are talking to God – it is mystery to us, but God understands perfectly.

I once heard a study on this passage where the pastor explained that when we speak in the “gift” tongue audibly it is unto God so therefore the interpretation should be one explaining what that “gift” tongue was saying to God.

Ex. “God is holy and lifted up, He is exalted in His holy heaven and there is none like Him. You are beautiful beyond description my Lord and Your Blood washes us clean.”

Usually tongues is given and then an interpretation that goes like this: “My children, I love you and want you to trust me in all the dark places you walk through. Nothing can pull you away from Me and I know this past mont has ben a purging that you feel is too much, But I will give you strength top endure it if you keep your eyes on Me, I am here for you.”

In my opinion that is a wrong interpretation for “gift” tongues. That was a prophecy because it is to men not God.

Prophecy does NOT need tongues preceeding it.

Gift tongues should exalt or speak to God.

Another ex. “Oh God our hearts are heavy in this crisis and we acknowledge that You and You alone are able to bring us through it, Praise to Your name alone.

That is my humble opinion on Gift tongues.

Btw, I speak in tongues in prayer just like I breath, it comes naturally, nut we should never seek tongues but seek the Giver. When He baptizes us in the Holy Spirit He gives us the ability to speak to Him in a language satan can’t understand. Thank God!

  • Good luck with the dentists!  I know going to the dentist is no fun, but it is never really that bad once you actually get there.  One of my teachers said his wifes childhood dentist didn’t belive in pain killers.  He would do drillings and all without any pain killers.  I can’t imagine how much that would hurt!

I will be praying for you….

  • Hope you are having a Blessed Monday!…….In Christ’s Love…..Monic

  • I was at the dentist today too… and believe it or not, my dentist is actually one of the nicest people I know, so it was not too bad. Then again, my father owns a funeral home, so I am well acquainted with those in disliked professions!

  • Thanks for your answer to my question…you are right. I need a job where His business is my business. Guess I need to job hunt!
