  • Oh my, between my husband needing the computer for business and the kids for school and games, I am losing time on the computer big time. I am so sorry for that.

I started getting some of the books you have suggested for Katherine, and picked up a few of the ones suggested for me. Plan to read them soon, but right now am in the midst of the Beth Moore study and a Revelation study by Kay Arthur, and the Discipleship course by Pastor Don. That combo is keeping me hopping.

Here are a few things that I have learned from the video that accompanies the Beth Moore study. Some of these thoughts opened my eyes.

Beth talks about comparing the verses of Genesis 18: 17-19 with Genesis 18:20-21

The first set of verses is God speaking to Himself about whether or not He should speak to Abraham about Sodom, the second set of verses is God talking to Abraham.

It shows that God’s actions are perfectly consistent with His thoughts and shows again Abraham’s role as Prophet. Beth thinks this is an awesome thought to keep in mind because God says that He knows the thoughts He thinks of us Jeremiah 29:11-12, and His thoughts are always perfect.

The other thing she pointed out that seems true is that often God’s wonders are not always spelled out in the Bible, that we discover the wonderful nature of God in our walk with Him, but God spells out each and every warning, so that we cannot miss the warnings. We cannot say, you never told us this…God has.

With the second discourse, Genesis 18:20-21 God is engaging Abraham to walk with Him so that He could teach Abraham to walk like Him. God is planning to check out Sodom before he brings down destruction on the city. He is showing that you don’t bring a harsh judgement on a city or a person without knowing the facts.

Why would God call us into intercessionary prayer if He wasn’t going to hear what we say. I am touched that Abraham barters down God, and that God listens and responds.

There are few people that God called “Friend”, one was Abraham and the other was Moses. Beth said, I want to know what it takes to be God’s friend. (me too!!!)  John 15:14-16 talks about obeying, and knowing the secrets of His heart. Agape love.

God gives us permission to question Him too. In Job, the oldest book of the Bible, God lets Job ask the question of Would God do wrong? As we build our relationship with God and begin to trust Him, we begin to see that God sees more than we do, knows more than we do, and that we can trust Him to be a true and just. That God’s words and actions match is another good indicator.

There was much more in the video, but these thoughts impacted me greatly.

Hope you have a blessed day, and I can’t wait to get to your sites. We need to get more than one computer hooked up to the internet. I am feeling cut off these days.

  • Change is frightening to everyone, but as Joyce Myers says, “do it with fear if you have to”.

By the way, I LOVE Kay Arthur!!!!!

Reading what you wrote about God thinking reminded me of this–I was talking to Jesus one time and I said, “Jesus, do you think such and such…”and He said, “I don’t think” and I said “why not?” and He said “the moment I think, it is done!!!” AWESOME, huh???

    love you!!!!

  • I love how Beth moore brings Gods truth home to our hearts.I want to do the Patriarch study so much! I know how in depth beths studies are,I’m amazed you have time for all the rest! You go girl! : )

  • Hey there! Just zooming around saying hi to everyone!

  • Beth Moore and Kay Arthur are both AWESOME!! AND I know you are enjoying the studies!!!!

GOD BLESS and Hope you are doing well in all!! HUGS

  • its amaainzin to me now

    to read thisentry

    in light of ur testimony

    wow

we all have a testimony of some sense to wherewe are now…

    AMEN>

  • we need a time when we can share about bible studies and spiritual informsation,  we are doing beth moore on fruits of spirit, I have some questions on how she seems to be presenting the Holy Spirit.  I think it’s because I am too much of a perfectionist (especially of spiritual matters, it if doesn’t seem right I have to search the word,)I  have no less than 10 bibles plus net plus study guides.  Friend of mine bought me JohnMacartur bible commentary, word for word NASB  Love it.  plus we are graced with amazing bible education at our church, my husband and I took Thheology class (3 year almost done) and church history also almost 3 year.  Get major test anxiety but other than that it is great.   History  has weekly quiz, then test over divisions in the book,  Theology you get to have open book quiz, and then write papers when done with sections.

But having surgeries really screwed me up as far as getting class work done but will have them done by end of school year.

I am trying to do a one on one study with the bible teachers wife.  we were doing a hermenutical study on Colossians, but then like I said with surgeries I fell behind and just couldn’t do that work,  But I founs  BOOK  by John Piper, Love his writing  {He is pastor in Minneoapilis MN} his theme if you need one is to “Delight in the Lord”  ANY WAY this lady -Luann and I are reading his book future grace  together, I recommend any  one to read it., awesome concept wonderfful God.

I DON’T PRAY ENOUGH, SO MANY PEOPLE SO MANY NEEDS,

i think I was so much better when kids were little and my life was chaos, well no kids around but life still chaos.

{at lesast now i AM  in therapy)

Kids are good about things, but need to pray for them also, each there own set of needs,  and husbsnd some times wonder if he is saved.  AHHHHHHHHHHH did i SAY that out loud to the world……. well it’s true, know he has fire insurance but  wonder about other things, he is smart and a good book learner,  but to sit down and ask him to write his own theological statement don’t know if he could.

    Like I said I don’t pray enough.

    interesting question

    DO WE EVER PRAY ENOUGH.

  • Hi. I may look around myself. Things do seem to get busy on us, without a doubt. Peace be with you. ::stoker

  • I have never really read anything from Beth Moore but it sounds good! What are the names of  the books you are talking bout?

  • Ok I’m back…I just read your testimony. That was incrediable for you to share all of that with us. Some of it was very personal and I admire you for putting yourself out there like that for all to see. You have come a long way girl and I believe God was with you every step of the way, even when you were a small child. He saved you from being killed because He knew the future! I wish I could tell you why He didn’t save you from the abuse. I know He gives us all free wills and that included your parents…Unfortunatly, if your dad died without Jesus, he will have to answer for all he did…your mom too. That is more sad and tragic than what they did to you. You have been given a fresh start! God saw every little thing that happened to you and I believe He cried…you are one of His children and to see people hurt you that way…had to break His heart. Another sad thing is that He sees that every day, all around the world girl. Children being abused and used every second. You are a light for those people. You can show them there is a way to survive all the bad memories/scars/hurts….there are so many out there that you can help because you have been there. I pray that your testimony will bring hope to others. You are an incrediable woman and I pray that you continue to let God use you. He may ask you to share that someday by being a speaker…one never knows! I know there are many out there that should hear your testimony!

  • Desiring God was one of the best things I ever read; it’s challenging and you won’t be the same after you put it down, but it’s worth the time.

    Grace & peace,

    Robb <><

  • I know what thats like. We have 4 in our family and we share one computer. Maybe someday we can get another. Have a great weekend.

    Hugs,

  • Hi Heather,

Classes are good. Today I have no classes but have to work the whole day. I leave home at 9:00am and will be back at 9:00pm! That’s why it’s been tought taking too much time on Xanga. But I am fine in the LORD and doing my best to put Him first. He is a wonderful and awesome King. I am up early and I am going out for a 30 minute’s run.  It is wise to do regular exercice in order to boost up the concentration level. I would have so much to post on, but everything has its season…. Be blessed, Sof

  • RYC:  Did you get the studies we offered at our web site? Let me know via Email if I need to do something about this for you.

  • RYC: At least somebody appreciates me! *putting on my best pouty face* ROFL

  • I have been praying for baby Kirk already – it is amazing to think that my prayers now can affect a childs eternity!!!
