Just a quick thought. Reading Mark 3, the various disciples were listed. Did you ever think about the kinds of disciples God led Jesus to pick? Sure gives us hope. He picked two sons of thunder (who were perpetually putting their foots in their mouths), Simon (whose name meant shifting sand, and later he would be called Peter and would deny Christ three times), Bartholemew (Nathaniel) who mocked Jesus at first, Thomas who doubted, Simon the Cananite (a zealot-pretty violent were the zealots of those days), and Matthew (a tax collector), a few we seldom hear from such as Thaddaeus and James the son of Alphaeus (called James the lesser). The only one that seemed really promising, who wasn’t from a hick town, who had education, polished manners, and seemed the one that held the most promise was Judas Iscariot, and he was the one who betrayed Christ.
This also brought to my mind, David and his mighty men. David had a band of ruffians who he shaped into an incredible fighting force.
And these disciples were the ruffians that Jesus shaped into a fighting force for the kingdom.
And the Bible tells us that God picked us. At least in my case, he sure has his work cut out for him to bring me to shape.
Will write more later, guess what, the kids have a day off from school due to flooding. They are happy, and today is a bright sunny day. I have to bring them to the mall today, my oldest needs new black, shiny shoes for his Jazz band costume. Why do kids keep growing? My boys are taller than I am now.

That’s why I smile when people tell me I’m too harsh. I’m a daughter of Thunder, a zealous follower… the best kind to have. ((If you can work with that kind of person… hehehe!))
Try as hard as I might, I don’t have to be perfect!
I think God picks imperfection over confidence always
Heather, TY so much for your prayers and encouragement in my time of loss, you are one of a few although there were many but of a few that were the most encouraging…and I very much appreciate it!
God bless you! You are such a kind person to think of me in my time of need.
Have a glorious day with God…………………………love to you Robin
I want to tell you how much I appreciate your comments and insights. I really respect your perspective. May the Lord continue to bless you. -Chris (facedownworshipper)
wow, your 1st paragraph totally kicked butt! it’s neat to read once again the meanings of names and callings of the disciples… guess God can turn nothing into something and change the heart of stone into a heart of worship. Praise the Lord!!!
… He is truly good! Love you, take care and Blessings, ~E
Heather, I know what you mean. Smetimes when I feel I’m loosing ground and feel worthless I can only cling un to the thought that though I strugled in life and was hurt and abused, His hand was with and on me always. Now Hi’s turned my mourning in to dancing by guiding me to help others that are hurting by using the experience I aquiered from my past.
Maybe latter on you will come to realize as I did, that we endured all the suferring for His glory. And by allowing Him to glorify His name through our life, we are able to help others that like we once did also suffer the pain, guilt and shame. In a very unique way though we might had not been believers at the time of our past strugles, like Paul we were prisoners for the cause without even knowing it. He was there to carry us through it all.
Peace be with you dear sister and wisdom as well. In His time it will all one day make sense, keep the good work and fight the good fight. Keep your lamp filled with oil and whait on Him, be prepared to receive of His glory.
HUGS,
Maria
Hi. I’m not sure who you are, but thanks for the comment. Yes, my Pastor is incredible. He’s human, but he really loves the sheep that God has given him.
Yes it’s definitely OK for you to comment on my site. I do the same thing on sites where they don’t know me.
I think it’s awesome that God uses us all in spite of our imperfections. However, I wouldn’t point to the disciples or imperfect people in the bible and use them as an excuse to BE imperfect. I think sometimes people go that route…and it’s definitely the wrong way to take it. After all, what would it be like if we said “well, David slept with Bathsheba (sp?), so it’s okay for me to commit adultery…”
Not saying you’re saying that…just pointing to a possible bad angle some people take on it.
thanks for your comment!
Thanks, heather. I appreciate it.
Woo hoo! I’m a ruffian!!! Hey, thanks for the comment and you’re welcome. It’s always good to look at things “outside of the box” ya know?
I think it’s so cool that God chooses us, and trains us!
BE blessed!

Yes, He will!!! Yes, He will!!!! You WILL see it!!!! I love you, sister!!! You are sooooo sweet!!!
Thanks for stopping by my site. If I’m not too abrasive for your tastes, you’re welcome back any time.
I have no idea why, but after reading this post, I now have Monty Python’s Lumberjack song in my head.
The human mind is a mysterious thing.
What would we do without hope?? And the kind of people God chooses, does give me great hope…..He is so good at turning around what the world rejects and advancing His Kingdom through them!!
There is hope for all of us.Isnt God great to pick so many different personalities to be a disciple? Each one of us are called to be disciples, and it goes to show, that God doesnt pick who we think ought to fill the position! It is remarkable how the men changed for the call of Christ once he went to heaven.
What? Didn’t they wear long flowing gowns – ahem, I mean robes?
