Seem to be caught up in little things. Between Holman’s Bible dictionary and some searching on the web, including Calvary Chapel Cheyenne notes and Jon Courson, I have discovered another interesting fact.
Matthew 13:24-30 about the tares and the wheat that the tares was a weed called the Bearded Darnell. It is a plant that looks exactly like wheat, but you can’t tell it isn’t wheat until it matures. The difference between wheat and Bearded Darnell is that Wheat produces fruit. Bearded Darnell produces no fruit.
Will write more later, but had to share this fact!

Thanks for the info…heehee
Knowledge is power *winks*
That is sooooo cool!!!!!! I am getting so much more out of these passages with this information you are sharing! Thank you heather!!!!
That is neat!
That is very interesting!!!!
my dad preached a sermon on this once… another truth is that if you open the head of wheat, it is full… but the head of the tare is empty, like the heart of the lost. this helps remind me that there are many empty people that are searching. they try so many different things, but will still be empty until they receive the TRUTH and his name is Jesus!
(it also explains why so many people who profess to be christians never have a changed life or show any spiritual friut. you can’t make bread from the tares.)
Heather, That was very interesting about the wheat and the tares. How much time do you spend on bible study each day?
This is great stuff…I had heard this once before a while ago…I love things like this…I ‘google’ just about everything when I am studying the Bible…most times it is more enlightening than using commentaries…
Hey heather…I have some other info on the tares [zonin] that has hebraic roots in fact when Israel turns away from God they are often referred to as ‘zonah’ [prostitute] which comes from the word zonin…anyhow…I would be more than happy to email or whatever those few paragraphs of info…or even post them here…though that would take up quite a bit of space…let me know…my email is pastord@buckeye-access.com
maybe God is trying to say something to you! I know how refreshed I have been when I have just sat or laid down, in His presence just to be with Him……..I think we should have “soaking services” in our churches………be strengthened in Him…Christy

GREAT NEWS! My sixteen year old passed his learner’s permit test, he was so nervous I was feeling for him as I drove him to take the test. He got a hundred on the test and walked into our house with an ear to ear smile. Now he wants to drive a lot. I think that will fall under the province of my husband who is way more laid back and less nervous than me. Although, when my husband was teaching me to drive, I insisted on getting lessons from a private company. One day we drove to a local deli, and I was nervous, so did not drive the way he ( a very bad back seat driver) would like me to drive, so he got out in front of a lot of construction workers and pretended to kiss the ground. I love the man, but find it hard to forgive that act for all the embarassment it caused me. But Christopher and Jim (my husband) are like two peas in a pod, so I am sure Christopher and Jim will get along finely.

momc2you, boy can I relate to that. In my running away from God I searched so many alternative religions and they all came up empty. The only one that has depth and fullness is Christianity. What I love is how each reading of the Bible opens up more and more to me.
Grannyfox, I have a confession to make, sometimes my house falls by the wayside. I study a lot in the Bible. It is my favorite pick up thing to do between housework tasks. My pastor says that it is probably the Holy Spirit giving me time to catch up for all the wasted years. Some days it is more than other days. I guess the way some people pick up a piece of crochet or knitting to do, I pick up the Bible. A lot of little times I guess adds up, and I have some wonderful Bible teachers that really open up the Word of God and leave you hungry for more.
pastord, please share what you know on tares, either on my site or put it in your site and leave a note in the comments section directing people to your site. I would love to hear what you have to share!
Bumblypick, I think you are right and I have been acting on it. Even told my pastor that I had fallen behind on that, so that I am accountable for this.
Whispers, love you, thanks for changing that picture. You are an awesome person and I really care.
Patty, I love my cat, and am a cat person. You should know that we have a menagerie in our house. We even added one, sigh. We have a cat, a dog, a ball python, a leopard gekko, two aquatic frogs, and now a fish. Not to mention a ton of sea monkies, one of my kids favorite Christmas gifts. Plus that I have three children and a husband. Could open up a zoo.

Heather,
Thank you. Both for stopping by and for all the nice things you said. What father wouldn’t want to hear those things about his daughter? hehe
Congrats on your son getting his permit. I’m sure now he feels like a man.
Absolutely!
“Too bad we don’t have switches that we can turn off and on at will.”
Hehe, true that.

We’re a generation who majors in minors & minors in majors . We tend to blow the most inconsequential things all out of proportion turning molehills into mountains. We also tend to totally ignore the things in life that are most important. However, when we strive to see things from God’s perspective, all of this begins to change. Everything in our lives gradually begins to take on a whole new light. That’s why I stress walking in the light of God so much folks. In the light of God we begin to see everything in our lives as it really is, & not as we’d like to believe it is. Things that once seemed so important won’t amount to a hill of beans in the light of God, & things we once ignored will suddenly be the most pressing things in our life. I truly believe we as believers are living far below our potential simply because we’re not yielding to the influence of the new life God placed inside of us when we were born again. It’s not a salvation issue folks. Being born again is. If we’re not truly born again, we’re not going to heaven. That’s a fact. The problem is, the life more abundant Jesus promised us as believers can only be experienced when we begin to walk in the light of God, yielding to the influence of the new life on the inside of us. It’s a choice we make one situation @ a time folks. I can choose to walk in the light of God, or I can choose to lean to my own understanding & react. The choice is mine; but the outcome is often far reaching. I may seem boring @ times because I’m so focussed; but the outcome is very important to me. I want to make sure the people I’m influencing in life are not only on their way to heaven, but experiencing the life more abundant Jesus promised us here.

I saw this when you posted this but you know I haven’t had time but I’m here now. What I immediately thought of was something I remember hearing in church before I was even a real believer. It was about facial hair (ie: beards) being an outward reminder/sign of our beast/sin nature. Just as animals have fur to cover their bodies. They have their own covering, but why did God create us essentially naked? I believe it’s because He wanted to clothe us with Himself. What are your thoughts on this?
Oh, & this doesn’t mean that I have anything against facial hair on men or think that it’s wrong or unspiritual! LOL! It’s just a natural picture of a spiritual truth.
And thank you for caring for us & all your prayers lately….<3
love, Ev
BTW: with of the Xanga metros for NY would Andrew be closest to? The area is Queens but the address says the town is Ridgewood.
