Seder Pictures
Last Saturday we had a wonderful Seder at church – there were over 130 people in attendance. My husband took a few pictures and has shared them.
Selma at our table was lighting the candle and saying the blessing over our table
The other “mamas” lighting the candles and saying the blessings.
My friends Julie and her husband Tommy, Juma standing (He has taught a few Bible studies which you can link to) and some of Julie’s inlaws.
Rabbi Michael explaining about the Matzos,
One of my favorite parts, examining the matzos to see that it is bruised, striped and pierced as was Jesus for us.
Please see the links to seder notes to have an explanation of the seder. One of the parts of the Seder is to hide the afikomen, a piece of matzo that is wrapped in a napkin and hidden by the Papa, the children search for the afikomen during the Seder which they then redeem for a price. Just like Jesus was hidden in the tomb, and how He redeemed us with the price of His precious shed blood.
My husband hid the afikomen under my son’s plate, there were too many in the room to hide it too far. We had been teasing Alana, Juma and Maria’s daughter about where the afikomen was and she was giggling so sweetly. Maria is to Alana’s right. Here she is finding the afikomen under Edward’s plate, Kelly is to Edward’s left.
FOUND!!!! We then used that afikomen to have communion.
My oldest is still at college, but here is a picture of us. From left to right, Kelly (Edward’s) girl friend, Edward, sitting – my husband Jim, me and my daughter Katherine.
Have a blessed day,
Heather

I attended a Seder once, and it was a very interesting and meaningful time! Your family looks happy and blessed!
Heather,
I remembered that April 21st is your birthday.
I though about you this morning.
I forgot to post your day on my site.
My mother would have been 88 today.
Have A WONDERFUL Day!
)
Happy Day To You!!!!
P.S.
I mentioned your birthday on my site.
I hope that you don’t mean.
Thanks for blogging.

Hi Heather..
Thanks for sharing your pics. Brings back a lot of memories for me. My dads parents both had mothers who were Messianic Jews.. and I grew up with a lot of tradition and understanding of the Jewish faith.
Thanks also for the post on my “Community of Believers”. It is as always appreciated. BTW.. you have a lovely family.
Phil
@susie91793 - Thanks for the birthday wishes and for posting my birthday on your site. I pray your day is blessed.
Love the pic of you & your family. lol, makes me miss mine just a bit.
Matzos taste so good. Doesn’t hurt that there’s amazing analogy there too.
AWESOME!!!
What a beautiful family Heather!
Years ago, I had a good friend, her husband was an evangelical on fire for the Lord Christian…passing out tracts out railroad crossings etc. He was quite a guy for Jesus! His Jewish wife, Michele was not understanding the homage for Christ, she was a business owner in the city, he was a painting contractor who drove around in a van that said ”Jesus is Lord”. One year she invited our family over for the Seder, it was a wonderful experience. I got along good with Michele I think because of the Jewish Italian thing going. To make a long story short, she is a messianic Jew now. : ) Praise the Lord! The Seder is a very joyful memory for me. It was back in ’90. Her husband has since gone to be with the Lord, and Michele is serving Christ.
ryc…I told Rebecca what you said, and it made her smile. She is on an American Girl message board for older girls and women and one lady picked up one of her photos for a platter she had embedded AG photos in for her living room. I’ve heard the AG people are taking looks on the board, so maybe they may like her work too? : )
Thank you for your encouragement Heather, you are very kind. Truly so. Hugs, Amelia
The great post. Your family are blessed ! May God continue to puring out the oil of blessings upon each one of yours. Thanks for your faithful pray for us. Love in Christ. Tip
Happy Birthday Heather! I hope you have an excellent day.
I have never been to a Seder, sounds very interesting.
You have a beautiful family.
Grace to you,
Karen
Happy Birthday! Thank you so much for sharing SO much with all of us. The blessings go so much farther than you will ever know….
You and your family look good and it looks like you all enjoyed the Seder. The symbolism of the Afikomen is rich. Happy Birthday!
Loved the Seder pics and the pic of your family!
Wow, looks like fun!
I enjoyed your pictures, Heather! I wish we could have had a Seder this year, but it wasn’t possible. I did roast up our lamb for the family when Meredith came down. It was a good time. I do enjoy a good Seder meal and all the meaning behind it. – Rachel
RYC: Boy you are so right when you say “God gives crop failures”! What a great mercy God shows us when He gives us crop failures. But He does let some weed fields we plant come to harvest. It’s always a bitter harvest, but God will teach us through those bitter times, without letting the poisonous weeds kill us. Even when we get our weed harvest God is merciful to us!
Very good thoughts. Thank you so much for sharing them with me and my readership.
Blessings,
Lonnie
Thank you, for posting this, Heather! We’ve been to a few Seders, the last being in ’07, and we love attending! We missed it this past weekend due to family in from out of town, and plans with my in-laws, but I’m happy to be here sharing yours with you! Tell your husband that the pictures are great! We also miss watching Zola Levitt as he would teach it every year on his program. I also want to say Happy (Belated) Birthday to you! I pray that your day was richly blessed! Thank you for sharing your family photo with us, also! Blessings on your Thursday. ~ Deborah <><
I have never been to one of these. It look’s very intresting. Beautiful family btw.
Hello Mrs. Heather!
First, happy belated birthday!!!
I am so sorry for taking so long to come over to your site! Life has been so crazy and hectic for me lately!
I loved looking at the pictures of the Seder. I am going to email this post and your one before this that explained the Seder to my sister Marianna, b/c she has been interesting it to the Seder and how it works. =)
So thanks for posting it all! Great post!
Love, Michelle
This is something I want to experience. A few of my friends have gone to one and said it was beautiful!
Thank you so much for posting this pictures and sharing this time with us. I’m a friend of “Threads of Faith” and I came by as she recommended you and I am glad that I came by! Seder is a wonderful time of reflection and to share with others.
In Christ’s Love,
Tonya
@bubston - Thank you for coming by, I love the Seder as well, I am so amazed at how much of Jesus is in the Seder.
Heather
@brokenbindings2 - Thank you for the birthday wishes and the mini.
Heather
@Journaling_Susan - Thank you for the birthday wishes and the mini, I am glad you came by.
Heather
@Donna7 - Oh I hope you can experience a Seder, maybe some churches near you put them on. Even Jewish families you know like to invite guests to seders, so I pray that you can enjoy a Seder next year.
Heather
@Such_Were_You - What is so awesome is that whatever happens God will use it for our good, although to be honest (she says sighing) sometimes it sure doesn’t feel so good.
Heather
Happy belated birthday!!!!!! Really nice pictures.
be good.
Lonnie
What a great picture of you guys!
RYC: about the brisket. I just sear the brisket on all sides and put it in the crock pot with a regular size bottle of my favorite bbq sauce for about 6 hours on High or 10 hours on low…
when it starts falling apart I remove the fat and pull it apart with a fork in the crock pot (it will be stringy) then continue to cook till your ready to eat…I like the sauce to cook into the meat. I used kraft bbq yesterday …the smoky flavor..
but you can use whatever you want.
I do not add any water…just bbq sauce.
blessings to you!
kathy
@MTnesting - Sounds very good. I do the BBQ sauce with country ribs as well. And one other recipe I love if you can have beer. I take a steak and cut it into pieces or beef stew meat and put in one envelope of onion soup mix, I slice some onions, add pepper and garlic powder, and then take a large can of beer and pour it over everything. I then add a bit more water to cover and leave that in my crock pot all day. The beef is tender, the sauce makes a gravy and I serve it over noodles. A crowd pleaser in my family. The beef falls apart.
