Temple Mount distance pictures, dungeon, steps Jesus walked
During our trip to Israel in May we were shown many models of the Temple, because as each new Temple was built, the configurations of the area surrounding it were changed.
We were brought to a place that overlooked Mt. Zion and got a view of the Temple Mount.
Here is a map that sort of describes what was seen. I have to tell you that I would want to come back to Israel knowing what I now know, and then I would have more information to share.
Above is a picture of the Temple Mount today.
And another view.
We were standing near a model of the Old temple, and all the surrounding buildings.
These models helped us make some sense of the city.
I do not remember the name of this church, but it is built above a place were prisoners were held, Jesus was brought here.
We walked on the same stairs that Jesus and His disciples walked on, the same stairs where Jesus would have walked as he was brought from one mock trial to another.
This was a profoundly moving place for us as we contemplated all that Jesus did for us.
A view of the dungeons from above.
An actual dungeon.
I cannot imagine spending one’s last hours bleeding, hurting, bruised and alone in one of these cells – no warmth, no love, just raw pain. Yet He kept His focus and carried out God’s plan. He knew that in a second He could have been delivered from this, but He chose because of His great love to go through pain that we can’t even imagine, so that our sins could be forgiven. I pray that all accept this wonderful gift of salvation, that all invite Jesus into their hearts, and that all make Him LORD of their lives. No other god, no other religion, no secular humanism or darwinism can provide what Jesus provided. No other god, religion, or philosophy would put their life on the line so that a relationship can be had. God wants so much for us to come to Him in relationship that He went to great lengths to restore that relationship. I pray that all accept His love.
In Jesus’ Name.
Have a blessed day!

Awesome pictures Heather!! BTW, did you see the news about the trench that the Waqf is digging on the Mount? The archaeologists say the remains of the second temple are just underneath the surface because of the bedrock or something like that… so what they are digging up is probably remains of it!! And no one is stopping them! That just amazes me… if it were some ancient Buddist temple or something we would have the UN and everyone else crying out! Grrr
Anyway, I posted a “cry for help” from the archaeologists and the Temple Institute over on my site.
Love, Bee
P.S. Heather how do you post a “message” to everyone? I have checked xanga help and poked around and I can’t find any thing that tells me how to do it.
Wow. Thanks Heather for taking the time to share with us. These photos give me goose bumps. Amazing. We started the first day of homeschool today and I will share these pics with the girls! The pics bring such emotion as I see where Jesus actually walked and suffered for us.
Blessings to you Heather, ~Amelia
Thank you for sharing your photos, some day I will be there myself. Please keep me posted. Grace to you!
Really neat models! And thanks for your messages! I don’t know to which photo you wanted me to help identifying. Just let me know!
Great point. Thanks for sharing Heather.
Oh thank God for Calvary, Sister Heather, without it and the work done on the cross by Jesus, there would be no Salvation for for you and me let alone the rest of the world. Praise Almighty God. Thanhs to Calvery! Bro. Cliff
Thanks for sharing all these wonderful memories of your trip! I hope you are having a Wonderful Day!………..In Christ’s Love……..Monic
I don’t mind at all getting the messages when you post pictures! I commented on your last post as well…it was excellent! Thank you for these wonderful pictures! Just to see the steps He walked on, and the feelings that come when seeing the dungeon that He may have been in, I thank Him over and over for what He endured to restore our relationship with God the Father! You have a great evening!
Blessings,
~ Deborah <><
Wonderful pictures! thanks for sharing them!
My family and I have made a couple of trips to Israel. The pics bring back good memories!
Yes, great pictures. Thanks for sharing them. RYC- My dd told me about getting a mouse and so I have one, a wireless one. I still find the web tv more relaxing. I have to find the right spot for using the laptop. I lay on my bed to do the webtv.
Thanks for stopping by my site and “introducing” yourself!
RYC: A life full of texture….I like that!!!! =o>
You had a life changing experience…we can tell! How awesome! I would love to go to Israel someday! Thanks for sharing….
Yet again, I really enjoyed looking at your pics! They are so neat and interesting.
RYC: Thanks for the compliment! Oh and the two elective class sessions I chose at the retreat were attractive table decor/napkin folding and natural beauty tips. (My sister went to the ribbon embroidery class and so she’s going to teach me that!) And the first retreat I went to several months ago, I took the corsage making class and handmade cards. Each class I have done, I thoroughly enjoyed!
But the the table decor/napkin folding and corsage making were my favorites!
Hope you’re having a lovely afternoon!
~Michelle
Wonderful reflection on the Lord’s last moments! Simply incredible!I too pray the entirety of mankind embraces the cross of Christ for “there is no other name under heaven by which men must be saved!”
Thanks Heather! I wish I could be there! One day Lord willing my wife and I want to make that trip to the holy land!
Great pictures!
Seeing your comment reminded me: Did I tell you how much I enjoyed (not sure enjoyed is the right word!) your testimony. I think I told you I printed it and took it along on our trip to Maine. It reminded me of God’s AMAZING GRACE. Thanks for telling me about the link.
Amen, I really need it. Thanks. Blessings.
Great pics… I hope to go some day.
I did get some rest, but I think it just made it worse! Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn’t be better to just stay up and then sleep at the normal time. Probably not.
I have enjoyed the pictures, Heather. It is nice that you will have a wonderful record of the trip all laid out for you. – Rachel
It is great that you were able to go!
Love your pictures Heather! Thank God for your journal, and your detailed notes!!
I did not get to walk those steps that Jesus and His followers walked…
I had a sore foot at day.
I did make it to the dungeons.
The thought of our LORD in that hell hole.
I accept the LOVE of JESUS.
He died so that we all can have LIFE.
Thanks for sharing…
