I am slowly getting to your sites, but wanted to share how the fish dinner went. Remember, my middle son wanted 7 fish, we ended up with about 10 – not all are technically fish.
It was a very fun meal, something we want to do again. It may be a new tradition in our house. I picked up fish from Adam’s, and got crusted fish of different varieties, one fillet each. They all baked at about the same time and temperature which made it easy.
1. Shrimp appetizer
2. Crab cakes.
3. Caribbean crusted snapper.
4. Mediterranean crusted salmon
5. Salsa crusted Mahi with roasted citron and blackbeans
6. Herb crusted cod
7& 8 Rolled & stuffed sole with scallop and crab stuffing.
9. Cornbread crusted catfish
10. Lemon pepper crusted cod (we counted that as a separate fish because of the different coating)Hey, we can make the rules. Had I been smart and gotten canned sardines and pickled herring we would have had 12.
We had a lot of laughs. My husband cut each fillet into five pieces and we had a reading of the name of the fish and a taste test. We all got one or two small bites from each fillet, so after all were consumed it was the equivallent of about 1 1/4 fillets per person. After all fish were consumed and there was only some shrimp left over – then we ate the side dishes of rolls, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes with butter & brown sugar, and baked potatoes, all walked away satisfied. Pumpkin pie will be served later.
While it was not the turkey I am used to, it made for something so fun that we will do it again. Anything that produces that much laughter and joy at a dining table is worth the change of tradition.
Somehow in the hustle and bustle of getting ready for Christmas I am missing my notebook with notes from Friday’s Bible study. I think someone moved it while tidying up, and I have to locate it.
Hoping you had a lot of laughter today, sometimes Christmas can be hard for people. It took having children for me to begin to enjoy Christmas. I remember as a kid calculating the hours, minutes and seconds until the Christmas vacation was over so I could get to the relative safety of school – even though the kids in school were mean, I was safer at school than at home. Summer vacation seemed interminable.
Anyway, I praise God for His healing of the hurts of this holiday in me, and He has done so much healing. I really count myself blessed. I pray healing for you if you have challenges at Christmas time.
Have a wonderful rest of the day,
Heather

I loved the variety of your Christmas meal, I have already used soem of the left over turkey to make turkey corn noodle soup , I think I might make a barbeque with therest I have left………I read your testimony tonight….I wanted to let you know that God had plans for you my friend, I had some things in my life that I couldnt control in my family, but I had loving parents….God is amazing how He takes situations from us and turns it for His use to help others, even thought at the time we think..”Where are you God?!!!” its all about the overall picture that God sees amen….
New tradition are good.
Thanks for stopping by. I did not mention that the illumination display continues on past the blue Christmas tree, and at the end of the road is a giant inflatable Kitty-Chan! Gross me out, I feel like taking a pin to the thing! Haha! I would really like to join the handbell choir, but my Sunday schedule usually prevents me from doing so. They are fun to listen to, something like a human music box. I am thinking of putting up the pastor’s sermon, too, but I should ask him first.
what fun! We had shrimp for Christmas eve dinner… small world.
NO! I cannot believe it! Our business is Miracle Fish, we import fresh fish and distribute to wholesale around the country. And i was researching, for marketing. AND the Italians have this feast of the seven fishes! so…..next time, please don’t forget the Tuna! beautiful, red meat bluefin, or yellowfin, or big eye tuna. Eat it raw….it is so awesome….
