It is early I know, I had to get up at 5 to drive my son to school for the state National Science Olympiad. This devotional from lifeway was in my email and I found a phrase that made me chuckle, our universe was not created by a BIG BANG but by a BIG BEING. (sorry, can’t get the advertisements out of the passage, sigh) I love it!!!!! Have a blessed day. I have been practicing my talk, and have it down to under 30 minutes as instructed, but I still need your prayers BIG TIME.
Heather

“Not From Me!”
The heavens were made by the word of the LORD, and all the stars, by the breath of His mouth. – PSALM 33:6
Many modern astronomers probing into outer space with their gigantic telescopes favor two theories as to the origin of the universe. One is the so-called Big Bang Theory, according to which “the cosmos started with a titanic explosion, and as a consequence has been expanding ever since.” The other is the Continuous Creation Theory, which maintains that “the universe is self-creating and is constantly making itself out of nothing and falling back into nothingness again.”
What many scientists are not prepared to admit is that the ultimate energy behind the universe is not a Big Bang, but a Big Being – an intelligent Being of indescribable majesty and power who is able to do whatever He chooses. And because what He chooses is always good, He can be trusted to have the best interest of His creation at heart.
When Joseph Haydn, the famous Austrian composer, had finished his great oratorio The Creation, he is said to have cried: “Not from me! Not from me! From above it has all come!” Our text for today reminds us that by God’s Word were the heavens made and by His breath the stars were formed.
I once heard my father describe the creation in this way: “It was no harder for God to create a world than it is for my son to blow soap bubbles into the air out of his clay pipe.” I often go back to that lovely image. I find that when contemplating this awesome, mighty, all-powerful God, my soul instinctively cries: “How great Thou art.” I hope yours does too!
Daily Prayer
Yes Father, as I contemplate Your majesty and Your power, my soul cries out: “How great Thou art.” It can do nothing else, for contemplation of You inevitably leads to adoration of You. Amen.

Good morning, my dear friend…..You mentioned that you have a talk that you’re going to be giving…..what is that about…..HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND….
Love and prayers, Sheryl
You know today’s technology is a wonderful thing. And it is amazing, even in the past week how many different people that I have been able to “speak” to, encourage, or receive the same from others via this computer. However, there is definitely nothing more powerful than looking people directly in the eye and allowing God to pour the words of His heart and mind out of your mouth. The first few times I had to speak in front of a large group of adults, I was terrified. The passage of scripture that I go to and pray is from Jeremiah 1:4-10. I am going to pray this for you ~
“Father, Before you even formed Heather in the womb, You knew her, before she was born, You set her apart; You appointed her as a prophet to the nations. And when she feels afraid to speak, remind her that she must go to everyone that You send her to and say whatever You command her to speak. I pray that she would not be afraid, but will be confident that You are there with her and that You will rescue her. Reach out Your hand, Lord, and touch her mouth and say to her heart, ‘Heather, I have put My words in your mouth and today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.’ I pray that if there is any sin hidden in her heart that might hinder her from hearing Your voice, that Your Spirit would reveal to her those areas of her life that she would be a clean and powerfully useful vessel to carry and deliver Your truth. Give her confidence, not in herself, but in Your power, the One who saved her and now invites her to join with You in Your continuing work.”
Love you Heather. Hope all went well for your son today and I will continue to pray that God uses you in a powerful way. ~ Sherry
A BIG BEING – I love that! I’m sure that will be worked into my conversation at some point this weekend.
BE blessed!
Steve
I am praying for you….
Huggs and Blessings,

The only big bang was the booming voice of God! =)
Have a blessed day!

Chris Tomlin, who recorded the son “Indescribable,” bought the rights to the song from another singer/songwriter from Spartanburg, SC. In the chorus, Tomlin’s version uses the phrase ‘amazing God’ where Laura Story originally wrote it as “A Very Big God.” This just goes to show that we cannot describe God’s greatness, bigness, and majesty. God spoke and the Pnuema (Spirit, breath, wind) moved across the face of the earth. Creation was created by a creator that is bigger than any comparison we can make. Thanks for the reminder. We all need to be reminded of the great “I AM.”
Yes, you will be in my prayer conceerning your study. I know the self doubts concerning “Am I teaching truths vs. falsehoods,” because I have to preach in my Presbytery meeting Tuesday. If we ever loose that heavy feeling of responsibility towards a message we have prepared then our words will be just that. I we continue to maintain a healthy “fear” of God, then the words we speak will be his words. I have faith you will do fine. May God bless your message abundantly.
In Him,
Steve
Prayers for you…. and all those who love His Word and want to share it!
