  • Back to Revelation 5,

    {

Well, John must have been relieved to know that there was one worthy to open the scroll, and then he heard that it was the Lion of Judah. Imagine his surprise when he turned around and saw the Lamb, as though it had been slain, having seven horns, seven eyes, which are the Seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth. And then the Lamb came and took the scroll. At last the earth could be redeemed.

The Greek word for Lamb in this passage is in the diminutive, and means a pet lamb, kind of like Mary’s lamb. A good thing to remember is that outward appearances are not always to be trusted, for this Lamb will soon wield a sword, and this Lamb also sacrificed His life for us, with a courage that no one else would ever duplicate. He was marred beyond recognition by the abuse He received for our sins.

Someone once said to me that the only thing man-made in Heaven was the scars on Jesus’ body.

When we see Jesus we will finally see exactly what sin does to us (something that we often ignore here on earth).

The people will fall down on their knees and worship, singing a new song. One line in the song is “And have redeemed US to God by Your blood.

There is only one group of people who can say this song, and that is the believers who accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. This is a pretty good indication that at this point in Revelation the Church is in Heaven, for in verse 11 we see that there are the voices of many angels, the living creatures, the elders and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands. All singing, “Worthy is the Lamb”

What a great praise and worship service this is. And to think that one day, soon I hope, we will be there worshipping. I can’t wait.

  • I’m looking forward to it, too, I live for that day.  Thank you for posting these, you are a good writer and you explain things clearly.  in Him, Gerrie

  • Thank you for the studies in Revelation. I really look forward to them. Where did you get that about what you wrote in the 1st two paragraphs? That is so awesome! You are such a blessing! Loving prayers thanking God for you! Carolyn

  • Sorry that I may disappoint you but the wording you gave is not Hebrew, it is Greek. The actual rendering would be: auton Iesous basileus en Ioudaios. Often times we read things and do not check them out or the writer or speaker we read or listen to use what is called a “free license” to express a thought that is not necessarily theologically or grammatically correct but sounds good.

The word for “king” in the Hebrew is melek , for “Jesus” it would be Joshua, and for “Jews” it would be yehodiay. So the tetragrammaton would not necessarily match what you placed there.

  • I’m reliving my study through you. It’s so awesome!! I was told to picture Jesus up on that cross, every time I sin. Every time I sin, I place Him back up there to suffer. Wow.

  • I don’t agree with the post above.  Jesus died once for all.  We don’t put Him back on the cross,  He said “It Is Finished!”  When we sin all we need to do is confess our sins and mean it, and we’re forgiven.  He’s our mediator between us and God the Father.  His blood cleanses us from all unrighteousness.  Jesus is interceding on our behalf and sits at the right hand of God….not on the cross!  Thank God for Jesus and the salvation He provides!

    Blessings.

  • I can’t wait to sing that new song!

    Have a blessed day!

  • Good morning Heather…..just checking in today…..

  • Just a note of interest, John in his Gospel writes, “Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS. Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek. The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, ‘Do not write “The King of the Jews,” but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews (John 19:19-21, NIV).”

John lets us know that the placard was written in three languages, not just one. In fact, interestingly, Aramaic was used and not Hebrew for one of them.

  • Revelation was always my favorite Bible book.

  • How are you doing, Heather?  I am praying for you…With much love, Paula
