  • I get to see Pastor Don today!!!!! So much to share with him. He is an awesome Pastor and Mentor.

Have to share a funny story with you. Yesterday that song I wrote kept me chuckling, so I called my friend to share it with her. I sung it and she said, “When you share it with Pastor Don tomorrow, try singing it to the tune of “Swanee River.”

    I said, “I thought I was.”

Julie laughed and said, “Well then, sing it the way you just did.”

Sigh, I cannot carry a tune in a wheelbarrow, so I think I can safely assume the music minister anointing is not on me. I have the anointing of appreciating the music ministry and a voice only God can love unless he does a MIGHTY miracle. Perhaps it is kind to the world that I save my loud singing for when I am driving alone in the car with my worship CD’s playing.

This morning I went back on Weight Watchers (can use prayers for this because weight is such an emotionally charged area for me. The good news is I start this time 17 pounds less than when I started the last time. So I did not regain all that I lost, but I need to get this under control.

Today I was in the shower and crying, sorting out some issues, and as usual after chatting with God, (I do pray when out of the shower as well and do Bible studies, but the shower is one place I am guaranteed of being alone for a period of time). And ended up smiling. I don’t know what God is doing, but here are a few lyrics that came to me this morning, just the seed of an idea.

Remember the kid’s song, “If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands.”

If your saved and you know it clap your hands.
If you have the joy of the Lord, shout hooray,
    Satan’s underfoot, stomp your feet.

Any other ideas. I suspect that someone somewhere else has come up with the above same idea, but it was fun.

This is blowing my mind, two mornings in a row, two song seeds, this has never, ever happened to me before.

I will try to share more Bible study later today but wanted to touch base with you. It is another day of running around.

    Have a blessed day.

  • i randomly saw your note on my dad’s xanga…don’t know if you saw his response to it or not…but Don isn’t Don Helton, is it?

  • Before you know it you’re going to have to start taking a little digital recorder with you in the bathroom to record your masterpieces!  =)  One time God laid a bunch of songs on me….like 11 in one month…and everyone laughed because I carried my recorder around everywhere….but so many times I’d be driving and a song would hit me and well….they can laugh….but now my feeble mind can remember what God gave me!  lol

    Have a blessed day!

  • I just love making up fun, goofy new songs from old ones.

Your story reminded me of my day yesterday in some ways – because I was really down in the dumps about all sorts of things, not knowing exactly why, but feeling miserable. And there was this little voice in the back of my head, trying to remind me that life isn’t that miserable, and there is so much to be thankful for and to laugh about and get your silly whiny butt out of that chair and start appreciating it. Well, it took awhile, and it took leading a Bible study for the youth that I really wasn’t in the mood to, but you know, that voice was right. Not that there isn’t a time to be sad, but wallowing in it probably isn’t the best plan (for me, yesterday)!

It’s like sometimes God dares you to try to keep that smile off your face…

  • Heather, this is revdrw. The giver is always better than the gift.
