Month: December 2005

  • Today we went to see Narnia, the kids and I enjoyed it very much.

We were given some questions to answer for our discipleship class. Some are pretty awesome and I thought I would share them with you. Our classes right now are on faith. Some are personal questions, some are answers from our text. If you want to share some of your answers, I would be honored.

    1. What do you have most difficulty having faith for? (For me that is believing God can really want to use me given my past, especially in the area of teaching).

    2. What was your biggest test of faith? What was the outcome? (For me that was turning over spiritual authority to my husband who at that time wanted nothing to do with born agains. He handled it beautifully, now attends Bible study and my kids are saved).

    3. What is your most successful area of Faith (what do you have no trouble believing for?) [For me, it is salvation, I know that if God could pull me from the pit, he can save anybody.]

    4. What is the connection between Faith and expectations? (In our discipleship text, we are told that hope is associated with expectancy, so it is a progression toward faith.

    5. What is the neatest miracle you have ever seen? (For me, the birth of my children).

    6. How do you get Faith? (Faith comes by hearing the Word of God, and we are all given a measure of faith).

    7. What Scripture would you use when someone says “I’m afraid.”? 2 Timothy 1:7 (For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind) – I am curious if you have any other scriptures on this.

8 Describe why hope and believing are different . (Believing is what we do when we hope. We progress from hope to believing to faith.  We believe and believe until the thing we hope for has substance.)

    9. Faith without works is dead. Jams 2:26

    10. Hebrews 11:1 says: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

    11. Why couldn’t the disciples cast out the demon in Mark 9:17-29? Jesus answered them and said this kind only comes out by prayer and fasting (the prayer of faith and fasting which breaks bonds. Jesus KNEW the demon would come out, no matter what the physical circumstances were. The disciples were caught up in the physical sight of what they perceived, not the faith. They were not in faith, not even belief because their hope was gone.

12, Hebrews 11:6 says: But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Faith is a tough subject for me. I waver in faith at times. In some areas I am strong, but there are weak areas as well. I keep praying that God will help me to strengthen in the area of faith.

Hope you are blessed by these questions.

  • Hope you all had an awesome Christmas. The kids have had fun, but I have to say that the most popular item was a small stocking stuffer of balloon rockets. Balloons that zoomed all over the house screeching. These balloons, when pumped up were about 4 feet long and noisy. This was followed by video games, especially the new Mario Party one.

Anyway, I figure it is time to finish the Bible teaching that we received from Pastor Leon Forte’ on the seasons of satanic attack. Two seasons left. The previous teachings of Pastor Forte’ are on the following dates: 12/17, 12/18, 12/21, 12/22, and the bottom of 12/24 after the Christmas carol game. Hope the teachings bless you. Tomorrow I will start typing notes from our Friday Discipleship Class on faith (ah an area I need much growth in).

Season Five: WHEN GOD IS REQUIRING YOU TO SOW SPECIAL SEED.

The examples Pastor Leon gave were of Elisha and the widow. He pointed out that she could have missed her blessing if she chose not to share her cake with Elisha, but instead she went against “common sense” and shared the cake. Pastor Forte’ pointed out that Elisha was not feeling the effects of the famine because he was being fed and received water from God, so he did not look like he was starving. But this widow was going to be giving the last of her grain to her son, and then planned that they would die. Because she sowed the seed of the cake to Elisha, she ended up with abundant food to get her and her son through the famine.

Peter, came to Jesus after a long sermon, and suggested that Jesus send the people home to get provisions. Pastor Forte’ said that Peter might have been suggesting to Jesus that the leadership was preaching too long. There is no passage that indicates that the people were griping about the long teaching or complaining about the hunger, so one might assume that the disciples were getting tired of ushering. Jesus told Peter to give the people something to eat.

It was then that a small boy gave Jesus everything - and Jesus did the same thing with this food that He would later do with communion – he took it, blessed it, and broke it.

This small offering (not small to the boy for it was all he had), fed 5000 men – since the men traveled with their wives and children you could assume that it was between 10,000-12,000 people.

If you hold on to what you have when Jesus asks you to sow, you can bring on a season of satanic attack. Jesus took the “seed” that the boy offered and that seed multiplied. DON’T EAT YOUR SEED.

After the multitude ate, there were 12 baskets of food left over – one for each of the disciples. The boy received blessings in abundance, for not only did He sow seed to Jesus, but also to all those who shared in the food that the boy shared.

Another example is the rich, young ruler who was told by Jesus to sell all he had and give to the poor. Jesus was trying to redefine the concept of wealth – that if you leave house and home for His sake you will receive 1,000 fold.

(Notes from a previous teaching from Pastor Don – We must realize that God owns everything, so when we tithe we are not giving God back our own stuff, but we are giving God back some of what He has given us. When we clutch onto our “own” possessions, we are not allowing God’s abundance to be demonstrated.)

The sixth season of satanic attack. WHEN PROPHESY IS RELEASED CONCERNING YOUR LIFE

satan hears only what we tell him. A prophesy is spoken, so satan will hear those words spoken over you. When you begin to act on the prophesy, satan becomes very busy trying to interfere with the fulfillment of the prophesy.

I Timothy 1:18-19 This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck.

The Word has attracted the devil to your life. The Word of God is the sword of the Spirit.  Wage a good warfare with that prophesy, keep the sword in your hand and mouth.

When God promotes you, you are often attacked by satan. Satan does not want to see God’s kingdom advanced.

After the Holy Spirit came on Jesus after his baptism, the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness for 40 days. During this time we have to assume that satan was tempting Jesus in many areas, but the Word only shares three.

If you are the son of God, turn these stones into bread. Satan questioned Jesus about His identity – was He or wasn’t He the son of God. Satan attacked Jesus in the area of PROVISION. If Jesus was the son of God, why wasn’t he being fed. Jesus used the Word to battle satan – said “It is written…”

Then satan used the Word against Jesus, by quoting something out of context – about The Bible saying the angels will keep you lest you dash your foot against the stone. So the second temptation of Jesus was in the area of his PROTECTION. Satan will use tactics to prevent you from going where you need to go, to keep you from getting outside your comfort zone. Again, Jesus knew the Word so well that he was also to say, “It is written…”

After that, satan shows Jesus the kingdom of the world and suggests that He could receive all that if He would bow down and worship satan.

Implying that the kingdom of the world is really what Jesus was after, and He could get it back. Satan will often attack you on your PURPOSE. Sometimes he will offer you a shortcut, an alternative way to manifest the plan of God to get the job done, instead of you doing it the way God told you to do. If you follow satan’s plan then God does not get the glory out of it.

Do not settle for a substitute provided by the devil. Keep in your mind the words God speaks, and use them to keep the prophesy and your vision of what God says.

If you do this, God will do that. We prophesy in part. God can only give us so much information at a time. If we knew the whole of what is going to happen to us, we might get scared, so God gives us the next step. We are to keep doing the next step until we arrive where Jesus wants us to go.

Pastor Leon then went to Albany to teach, at a church that our church has helped to plant. There is a tape of that talk that I have requested for it concerns how to work with the prophesies spoken over you. The rest of this meeting was Pastor Leon prophesying over people.

Pastor Don has told us in the past, that unless we know for sure that the prophet is prophesying from God, to be careful what prophesies we take in, some are not necessarily from God. Most times the prophesies that we receive, if they are from God, will confirm what God has already told us from our study of His Word and our prayer life.

The words Pastor Leon spoke over me were so true to what I am currently working on in my life, that it blew me away. But it gave me hope that I am doing what is right to do in the situation. Prophesy should edify us (Heather’s comment) not tear us down.

In a previous talk, Pastor Don spoke about the right season for a prophesy to manifest. He mentioned that one woman spoke that he should leave Living Word and set up his own church (this was at a time when he was teaching a Bible study and sitting under the teaching of the previous pastor of Living Word). Pastor Don did not leave and form his own church because he did not feel right in the timing of this move. And it is good that he waited, because if God is not in the move, it would not prosper. If Pastor Don had left at that time, he would not now be the Pastor of Living Word Church, and I for one am grateful that He waited until God told him what to do, for I am so blessed with having him as my pastor.

    Have a wonderful day today.

I took my daughter skiing today, the two boys did not want to come. One has a fever and sore throat, the other wanted to sleep in. Both get to stay home with dad. Because I live about 40 minutes from  Bellayre Mountain, we get the kids season passes, so they can ski unlimited times during the season. The parents sit and talk, I also knit and do Bible Study. It is relaxing. One day I will try to get up on skis, but it looks way too scary to me right now. Coordination isn’t one of my strong points.

Hope you have a Blessed Christmas. For me I have been praising God. He has begun to do a healing in me. This year I have been listening to Christmas Carols on our local Christian station, and there aren’t the tears, the gnawing hurt inside. Somehow Christmas (which I always enjoy vicariously through my kids pleasure, but in the past I would dispense with) is now something that doesn’t tweek past memories, and mourning of what wasn’t when I was a kid. This is the first year that that pain hasn’t surfaced. Praying this peace and joy onto all of you as well.

  • Continuing in the Pastor Leon Forte’s talk from last Friday.

    4th Season of satanic attack:

WHEN YOU HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN INTERCESSORY PRAYER.

1 Samuel 17 – David and Goliath. David’s dad sent him down to check on his brothers in the war against the Philistines. The Israelites were “punked”, they were disheartened because they felt that there was no way to defeat Goliath, and Goliath was speaking blasphemes over their camp. Sometimes it takes someone from the outside of camp to come in and see something is wrong. David perceived that Goliath could be defeated. When we are in the midst of a situation we can become desensitized to it. So when someone from outside comes in, they can see much more clearly. Often this raises the hackles of the person who is in the midst of the situation because they have grown comfortable in the situation, and do not want to come out of their comfort zone. This happened to Saul, after the battles when David showed himself so heroic. Saul became jealous, and it was that jealousy that allowed satan to come in and cause him to attack David.

I Samuel 17:33 And Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.”

Pastor Leon admonished the youth in our congregation to never accept anyone putting them down because of their age. To not let someone define you (good advice even for the adults). Don’t get put into a box.

1 Samuel 17:34-35 But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it.”

Pastor Leon told us that when you are called to do things, there are natural predators. Lions and bears are not evil, they are not sent of the devil to eat sheep, they naturally eat sheep. David’s job was to keep the sheep safe. To attack the Lion and Bear and grab it by the beard means he had to go into the danger zone of the predator, and subdue it.

When we are going after a situation in intercessory prayer you have to know who you target, and what to pray for. We have to deliver the lamb from the mouth of the lion. That is the crunch time. Don’t worry about the predicament when you are interceding, just get busy and deliver the lamb from the mouth. The lion AROSE AGAINST ME, when you intercede be prepared for retaliation from the enemy. David grabbed the lion by the head and killed it. David stole the devil’s lunch, and now the devil wanted to make David his lunch.

When you are interceding for someone in a particular area, be sure satan will try to attack you in that same area. So you must tighten up your spiritual armor and make sure you are in line with God’s Word in that particular area. For example if satan is working in the area of divorce, then anyone who has a weakness in that area will do. If one divorce is foiled, satan will look for another divorce. Any divorce will do.

Our intercession can break the curse on our family, and stop the behaviors from being passed down to our children.

It is important to remember that there are natural enemies that can attack in the spiritual realms.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you are in the presence of enemies, if satan is attacking you in a particular area, and you are in an apostolic calling, or interceding for a person in prayer, then it is a good indication that you are hurting satan and affecting him.

(Pastor Don calls this the ripples on the pond. satan will leave you alone, but if you toss a pebble into a still pond, you create ripples which will draw the attention of satan, but satan is a defeated foe. He can try to disrupt what you are doing, but stand strong in God. Satan will not pay attention to someone who is in his camp, he already won that battle, it is when we choose to follow God, to speak truth, to grow spiritually that we draw satan’s attention on us to try and deflect this growth.)

Moses is a model for an apostle. The sons of Korah questioned Moses’ authority. They had a bit of knowledge and felt that they should claim some of Moses’ authority over the people. Sometimes in ministry the pastor will raise up a person into the ministry, and after awhile they try to usurp the pastor’s role.

The sons of Korah questioned if God was only speaking to Moses, and they were sowing a seed of disobedience into the people. God used worship as the litmus test in this situation.

Both Moses and the sons of Korah were to give an offering before God. And whoever God honored in worship was the real leader. Moses’ rod was accepted, and it budded forth, and produced fruit. Korah was destroyed.

Jeremiah 6, God will cast down those who are not speaking for Him, those who say peace, peace when there is  no peace. Jeremiah had to speak bad news to the people of Israel. They did not want to hear his message. When you intercede and speak the truth for the people sooner or later you will run into a Jezebel and an Ahab.

Every leader must have a Joab, who will defend him. Sooner or later you will run into an Absalom, someone whom you raised up, poured your love into, and they will not want to wait for their inheritance, but would rather seize it with impatience and evil speaking. It is then that the leader needs a Joab to put Absalom down.

Real leaders must not be afraid to grow others into positions of authority. At this time there is a tremendous move of God, and this move of God is a Saint’s movement. The Saints are being taught to go out and effectively do Kingdom work. The Saints must be prepared for ministry and discipleship. They must be ready to manifest what God is calling them to do.

Nehemiah had a calling to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. He had Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem trying to stop Nehemiah from building the walls. In life we will have Sanballats, Tobiahs and Geshems dogging our steps when we set out to do a work that God has ordained for us. We must stand firm.

There, believe it or not, are a few more seasons of satanic attack. This was a very long talk, but so helpful. I will put up the others as soon as possible.

Please remember, I am taking notes as the pastor is speaking. Any errors are my note taking, not the pastor’s teaching.

Praying that you all have a very Merry Christmas.

    Heather

  • Continuing Pastor Leon’s lesson on “Seasons of satanic Attack.”

    2nd Season of satanic attack

THE RELEASE OF A NEW REVELATION FOR YOUR LIFE

2 Corinthians 12:6-7 For though I might desire to boast, I will not be a fool; for I will speak the truth. But I refrain, lest anyone should think of me above what he sees me to be or hears from me. And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.

When God reveals a new revelation to us it may break a curse, unlock a new dimension of anointing, and this threatens satan’s power over our lives and other’s lives.

Remember the parable of the sower who sows seed. The seed is the Word. Matthew 13, Jesus explained that in Verse 19–”When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.”

The Word can also be sown on someone who has no roots in themselves (the rocky soil), or thorns (who is beset with the cares and distractions of the world), or on good soil where the seed will multiply and produce fruit which will help to advance the kingdom of God.

Satan has a vested interest in preventing us from making good use of the Word of God. It is no accident that Paul was buffeted by satan, for Paul knew much of the Word of God, and was very fruitful for God’s kingdom.

The more Word we have in our lives, the more the attacks from satan will come to try and pull us away from the Word. Yet it is important to fill up on the Word, it is the Word that makes life uncomfortable for satan, the enemy.

The more we learn of God, the more Word we know and study, the more we grow in God’s kingdom, the greater the threat we are to satan. Satan will not need to bother with someone who is unsaved because he already has them, it is only when we get saved and grow in our faith that we become a threat to Him. So the more advanced we are in faith, the more we have to keep our spiritual defenses up because we will attract satan’s attention.

The enemy will lie and tell you that you don’t know anything, when you get doubts in your mind about your faith, then you know that you must know something.

We have to keep our sword sharpened. Pastor Leon gave us a movie example that still has me chuckling.

Remember in the movie Crocodile Dundee, when he came to New York and was walking down the street with his girlfriend. Robbers (satan) came up to him to steal from them, the robbers threatened them with a knife. His girlfriend tells him to give the money over because they have a knife. Crocodile Dundee laughs and says that toothpick? Here’s a knife. And he pulls out a gigantic knife. The thieves run away.

When dealing with satan, we have to sharpen our swords (the Word of God), and fill up so much that our knife is much larger than the tiny pricks of satan.

A third season of satanic attack is:

THE BIRTH OF A CHILD DESTINED TO BECOME A SPIRITUAL LEADER

Satan will always try to kill a child of promise in their infancy. Child abuse, danger, accidents, threats on their lives will happen to try to prevent the child from growing up and being effective in God’s kingdom. Some children, after hurtful childhoods, harbor a bitter root of judgement or unforgiveness. This will hamper their spiritual development.

What is important to remember is: THE DEVIL IS NOT GOD’S SPIRITUAL EQUAL. God created satan as an angel. God knows all, but satan can only guess from what he learned during his sojourn in heaven before the fall.

For example, he knew that the Messiah would come to deliver the earth, he knew the time, but did not know which human child was the Messiah, so when the time came for the Messiah to be born, and Jesus came into the world, satan influenced Herod to try and kill the Messiah by killing all male children under a certain age.

But God’s plans are far greater than satan’s, only God could keep a child of promise safe in the enemy’s camp. An example is Moses, who was floated in a basket, picked up by Pharaoh’s daughter, and then the daughter hired Moses’ mother to nurse him. So Moses’ mom got paid with Pharaoh’s money to do what she wanted to do in the first place.

Satan doesn’t know anything unless we tell Him. That is why it is important to watch what we say, to whom we say things.

God took care of John the Baptist and Jesus.

Our pastors, parents, and teachers are role models. They are supposed to show us what the Father’s love is like, to guide us in our paths.

When our parents are not good parents, they distort our image of God, so that future leaders (our children) do not know how to be good role models.

In the Old Testament, as time went on, the sacrifices in the Temple were distorted. People began to bring in diseased animals, the priesthood cheated the people who came to sacrifice. The pure image of what God wanted to show about the Savior, as told to Moses and the Law got distorted. In fact the image was so distorted, that most people did not recognize Jesus in their midst. They did not know that the Messiah was there because the picture God painted in the Old Testament of the sacrifice was distorted.

As we become parents it is important to rember that it is not about us, but about the baby. As we break curses over or lives, we also help to free our future children (physical or spiritual children), so that they do not have to repeat the same curses from generation to generation.

When children come to church they watch the worship, they see the dancers, and they say, I want to dance like so and so, or I want to play the drums, or sing, or teach….. The children will model what the see, so make sure they are seeing the right things to model.

When Jacob wanted to grow speckled sheep, he modeled what he wanted the sheep to look like by cutting off bark from the reeds where the sheep drank. We must model for our children what we want them to become.

Tomorrow I will share a few more seasons of satanic attack.

I am hoping you have an awesome evening!

    Heather

  • Pastor Leon Forte’s Friday night teaching- “Seasons of satanic attack” follows,  hope you enjoy it. Let me state that he spoke so many truths that if there are any errors, it is my notetaking not the quality of his teaching.

He started out by saying that we have to discern the sounds around us. Because we are gatekeepers in our region, there is an extreme spiritual authority that comes with being a gatekeeper.

Jesus spoke and although many heard His words, they did not understand them.

Ephesians 6:10-18 (10) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. (11) Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (12)For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (13) Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (14) Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, (15)and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; (16) above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. (17)And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; (18)praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for the saints–

Pastor Leon pointed out that often when we attend a Bible teaching class or sermon, when we start to hear a familiar passage, when we hear something we know, it is our tendency to turn our minds off, to think, “I already know this.” It is important not to do that because often the message is something that we need.

Verse 10 is a covenant statement

Verses 11-18 talk about the whole armor of God and how we can stand firm in the face of satanic attack. (In another teaching Pastor Don once pointed out that we need the WHOLE armor of God, and if you look at the pieces of the armor they basically cover our front, so we must constantly advance – if we retreat, we leave our backs vulnerable. Jesus has our backs when we advance.)

We cannot fight what we don’t know. We must be knowledgeable about when the attacks of satan are prone to come.

Notice in the above Ephesians passage, Paul calls us brethren – it is a plural word which implies that we need each other. It is not MY personal battle, but a corporate one.

We are in a fight. God has drafted us into His army. He is known as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, carries a sword, and will cut down all that does not belong in His kingdom.

Jesus said blessed are the PEACEMAKERS – he did not say truce makers. Sometimes we have to fight to keep the peace. In order to keep the peace, you must defeat the enemy. To do this you need to know how to fight and you need to put on the whole armor of God.

Most people only wear the helmet of SALVATION, and go butt naked into the battle. This makes it incredibly easy for the enemy to defeat you with a well-placed poke of a stick.

Paul said in in Ephesians that our battle is against principalities and powers, rulers of the darkness, and spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. In 2 Corinthians 10:4-6  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for the pulling down of strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

    This warfare STARTS IN OURSELVES.

The body of Christ is very good at petty warfare, of putting on our armor and sticking each other with the sword of the Spirit. It is far easier to find the faults in others, a lot harder to look at ourselves.

We cannot be picky about what pieces of this armor we put on, we have to put on the WHOLE armor of God. Only in that way can we stand a chance against the wiles of satan. Satan has tactics to use against you, and he will even use them against you in church. Don’t be fooled, the devil goes to church. In fact he used to work in the church (he was God’s worship leader). He is familiar with church, and he will do anything to keep you from God’s will for your life. He knows your weaknesses and will attack there.

    1st season of satanic attack.

    When you are physically exhausted.

It is preached that we should not worry about the flesh, that we should ignore the flesh. But the truth is, we can’t do anything on this earth without our fleshly suit. The condition of our body can hinder our spirit. Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, and He dwells in us. We must take care of our temples.

The first thing to go when we are exhausted is our prayer life. Sometimes when we are tired every filthy, vile thought from hell can come into our minds – thoughts of depression, despair, defeat. The enemy has access to our mind, and learns about what we fear from what we speak. Even when we pray for our needs, satan is there to hear what it is we desire. God has given us tongues, so that we can speak in code to him, in a language that satan does not comprehend.

As a gatekeeper we are responsible for what spirits come into our valley (or area where you live and worship). The enemy will try to get us to not pray. We will get up early to pray and our kids also get up early, our favorite TV show comes on at the time we set aside to pray, or we are too tired to pray.

When we are physically exhausted, the next thing to go is the reading of the Word. Pastor Leon suggests getting a Bible written in an easy to understand format – that God did not speak in King Jame’s English, if you can’t get understanding reading the thee’s and thou’s then find a Bible that is more comprehensible to you.

Reading the Word is downloading your hardrive (the Bible) into your Spirit. And if possible, read the Bible out loud, don’t just read it to yourself. When you put the words out into the atmosphere, you begin to change the atmosphere of your area.

Our screen is the mind, and we must give the Holy Spirit the mouse.

When we became filled with the Holy Spirit (saved) we banished the devil from us, and satan needs a body to function. If we keep our minds, and atmosphere filled with the Word of God there is no place for the devil to reside. And he will wait until we have a weakness and attack us at our weakest link.

Also, when we are physically exhausted, the next thing to go is our Praise and Worship offering.

When we first got saved we would attend church and stand and enthusiastically participate in praise and worship, now we sit down quicker, and our minds are elsewhere. We begin to see praise and worship as being about style, which praise team we choose to attend service during, whether or not they sing the songs you feel they ought to sing, or if we choose to arrive a bit later and skip the praise and worship altogether. It is during praise and worship that we begin to have the anointing break into our worship.

It is important to remember that God will use anything to download something into our spirits that we need. Sometimes a song or music can download something into our being, and later in the week we find ourselves humming or singing a song and realize that God was telling us something through that worship song.

When we are physically exhausted, often we find ourselves busy doing something else. We have to remember that our first priority is God.

When we are exhausted, often we get STINGY. We won’t give. God wants us to sow seed.

He talked about Elijah and the woman with her son. The woman was down to her last bit of grain and was going to feed her son the last bit, and then prepare to die. Elijah, came upon her, and requested that she give him some of this food, (and Pastor Leon pointed out that the famine was caused by Elijah’s prayer, Elijah had been fed by God and did not look hungry – that everything about him would have made the woman question this reasoning). He jokingly said that it was like being down to your last box of Jiffy Mix and a tiny piece of lard. Yet the woman gave Elijah a cake, and the end result was that she was overflowing in oil and grain. She did not starve, but had in abundance.

Sometimes God will not send sustenance, He sends an opportunity to sow.

The devil hates what he sees here, the generosity of the saints.

When we are physically exhausted, FASTING goes out of the window. We will not fast and pray, but we feast and play. If we are told by God to fast, He will show us what to do to break the bounds of wickedness.

When we are exhausted, TRUST IN THE VISION OF THE HOUSE AND THE VISIONARY BEGINS TO WANE.

Things irk us more easily, we have heard this over and over we tell ourselves, why doesn’t our pastor preach something NEW to us. Pastor Leon said that often our pastor would love to preach something new and different, but God won’t let him because we still haven’t heard and applied what our pastor is currently preaching, so our pastor can’t move on.

All of the above have to do with the flesh and exhaustion. Tomorrow I will cover another season of satanic attack.

Please have a blessed day, and especially at this time, don’t let the season make you exhausted.

  • Friday Bible Study Continued – See 12/17 for part one.

Pastor Leon Forte’ then added some comments which looked at things from a different perspective.

We are spirits that live in a bodies and possess souls.

There is a hierarchy in rulership:

Slave – has no choice, can be right but even if right must still
                follow what his master orders.

    Servant- Always serves his master

Master – Connected to the source

BC (before Christ) our master was our flesh. The Servant was our thoughts, will and emotions, and the Slave was our unregenerated spirit, which followed the flesh desires.

BC we could not receive what God was saying in our lives. It was like God was operating on an FM radio band and we were operating on the AM band (Note from Heather, I love this pastor’s ordinary examples which helps to make things clear).

When we get Born Again, God takes the AM band of us and replaces it with FM. Christ processes the FM band and the Holy Spirit is like the graphic equalizer.

When we get saved, the flesh is still the flesh and our mind (servant) is still the mind, but our Spirit now is regenerated.

What has changed is the hierarchy – now the Spirit is the Master

This happens once you get your BA (Born Again). Now our source is the Spirit realm. We have to acclimate our Soul (servant) to the change in hierarchy. It must learn to carry out the orders of the new boss – the Spirit.

Romans 12: 1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Jesus paid the bill for us, He did it for us. In our flesh is no good thing. With our renewed mind, we can begin to tackle strongholds. That is why it is so important to feed our minds with the Word of God, to fill it full so that we can take this hierarchy and put it in line with God’s plan for us.

    Pastor Don continued with:

2 Cor: 10:3-6 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Strongholds come up in our mind and lives, and keep us from seeing truth clearly, they keep us acting in the old patterns that are not in our best interests.

We must cast down our imaginations and arguments, not listen to the lies from our minds, or respond to signals that we used to respond to.

Strongholds put up filters that cause us to argue against Truth.

Pastor Leon and Pastor Don said that we have to form a posse in our mind, and as we know more of the word of God, that posse grows stronger. Satan will put thoughts into our minds that are tailor made to our weaknesses, causing us to doubt, fear, or not trust in God. We must capture with our posse those thoughts and replace them with Truth. We must capture anything that doesn’t line up with Christ.

Pastor Leon used this computer language example.

We must download the Word of God onto our Hard Drive (the Spirit), from the Disk (the Word of God), and then pull it up on our screen (our Mind), and also send it to the printer (our mouth).

The Key to having something up on the screen is to be downloaded and saved in the hard drive. To access it, we use the mouse (spirit). Many of us know the Word and the thoughts, but we can have the information, the question is, who is in control of the mouse? Is it our Spirit or is it the Flesh?

Which side are you acting on – the you that was BC (before Christ) or BA (born again)?

Any prophesying that we do must come from the word that is in us. If we have little word, we will be unable to prophesy much.

Pastor Don said that to act on faith, we have to kill a giant today.

Our GIANT is being stuck in a place that we are comfortable with. Defending our mind, will and emotions. And we are not willing to own up to the powerful declarations we are making.

If we find a Giant in our lives, and speak the truth about it, but believe that we cannot battle this giant and win, we are calling God a liar.

Back to our Numbers 13 example.

Numbers 13:27 – they spoke the truth about the fruit,

But, Numbers 13:28-29 they expressed doubt (nevertheless)

Verse 30 Caleb was able to believe the Spirit of God, and state boldly that these giants were weak and would be defeated.

Verse 32 but the 10 spies according to King James Version gave an evil report. It was evil because it did not line up with what God said.

We have to stop excusing as OK our words of doubt and unbelief when we are looking through a soulish filter.

God is not pleased with our words of doubt and unbelief, He wants us to Believe Him.

We must catch ourselves quickly when we do this, and when we add a negative opinion, we must replace it with something in line with God’s word. It dishonors God when we express thoughts of doubt and unbelief. Often we express these doubts before we have even consulted God about the situation.

It is true that we will have what we say, so we need to be more careful of what we say.

It also has the problem of hurting the Body of Christ and the Church for it sows seeds of doubt and unbelief in others’ minds as well.

The battle is a question of Authority. Who has authority, God or our Flesh.

You must discern the facts from the TRUTH

It is a fact – there are giants

But the Truth is that God told the Israelites that they would possess the land.

In Numbers 14:9 Joshua and Caleb spoke the truth when they said, “Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread, their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them.”

The Israelites wanted to stone Joshua and Caleb. When we speak the truth (the FM self) the AM self will want to stone us, to do anything to prevent us from acting on what we know God is saying.

To battle our giants we have to ask God for discernment. To ask, who is this giant, what does he want, where did he come from.

Sometimes the negative person with their belief will seem stronger than the person with real authority. But we have to stick with real authority, for it will last longer and please God. It is only with real authority that we will gain our victory.

As it says in Romans 4:17 “…God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did.”

Most people are praying for their breakthroughs. They seem to forget that a breakthrough is a violent assault on the enemy, and you only get it if you aggressively attack what is holding you back.

We cannot compromise and accept verbiage filled with doubt and unbelief. We cannot justify this verbiage. We will be held accountable for every idle (idol) word spoken.

Many pastors have turned a bedside manner of gentleness into spiritual compromise. It is important to guide those to the truth and combat the erroneous thoughts.

You can’t control what you hear, but you can control how you hear it. You do not have to accept bad reports in your life as truth.

As Pastor Don’s father said, you can’t control the birds in the air, but you can control which birds land and build a nest.

When we get knowledge of the Word, satan can only affect us by causing us to feel guilt, and an inability to do battle, but these are lies. Satan has lost a long time ago, and he just tries to get us to line up with his lying thoughts.

We must examine where we are thinking negatively, recognize the patterns, and rebuke the negative thoughts.

Many times the bad that happens in our lives is not because we are under a curse, but because we haven’t reversed or negated our negative tongues.

We must acknowledge our negative thinking, counter it, not accept it, reverse it, and after a while we will not be speaking those negative things.

It is the responsibility of the people in the pews to kill the spirit of religion. It is our responsibility to be Calebs and Joshuas. To defend the truth no matter what.

A question came up about which battles we should speak up about with those in our lives. And it came out that we need to pick and choose our battles, no one is perfect, and we all have areas that we need to work on.

We need each other in the church – that is why it is called fellowship – we need all the other fellows in the ship. We have to get beyond the stereotypes. We get grace free from God, Faith is the currency of Heaven.  We should be careful what we spend it on.

Another question had to do about when a person brings a truth to someone and they don’t receive the truth? It was brought out that it is important to speak the truth, but there was also on the person speaking a filter that they felt that when they speak a truth the other person should receive it. The truth is, that is not always what happens. And it is up to the person who spoke the truth, to rest in the speaking of the truth, and not get hurt or upset because it is not received the way they think that it should be received. That they need to find out the stronghold in themselves that requires that others accept their words as truth.

Mark 11:22-28 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says..”

We really must be careful of what we say.

I asked, that there is some concern in my heart for the name it/claim it sorts of statements because what I really want in my life is what is God’s best for me, so I want to make sure that what I ask for is what God wants for me.

I was told it boils down to discernment. That we must pray that God will give us the discernment. Finally this clicked in my mind, often I pray without first coming to God to know what I should pray about. I had the process reversed. There is nothing wrong with going to God and sorting out the issues, so that you know what must be prayed about, then praying with discernment.

What an awesome God we serve that He brings people into our lives to clarify tough issues.

Tomorrow I will start writing about the teaching Pastor Forte’ taught on Friday Night, it knocked my socks off.

    Have a blessed night!

  • Well, thought I would update you on events. With the snowstorm my husband’s boss called and told him not to drive to Ohio, and so we stayed home. Later the boss flew to Akron and went to the party. I was sort of disappointed, but as it turned out, God had something awesomely better for me. Now I can say that I am so glad that we did not go. Friday Bible study and the special service on Friday evening blessed me so much.

I am so lucky to be able to attend Bible study at Living Word Chapel. Pastor Don and the others who teach build a solid foundation in the Word. We also have awesome visitors, and this Friday the visitor was a prophet, Pastor Leon Forte’. If Pastor Leon is ever speaking in your area, you should try to make it to his talk, what a blessed man of God he is. His church is Grace Christian Center at 9322 Johnson Road, Athens, Ohio.

I am laughing because it seems that even though I did not get to Ohio, Ohio came to me.

Over the next few days I am going to share my notes. Friday Bible study was part of our discipleship class, but Pastor Leon came and shared as well.

    FRIDAY BIBLE STUDY

The devil manipulates what we see and hear, and interfers with our faith. It is our job as disciples to begin to see and hear more from what God says, and less from the flesh and satan.

Paul said that we (our flesh) dies in Christ, and we become renewed.

Before we became aware of the law, we could not break the law. Pastor Don gave the example of how you can go any speed on a road until they put up a speed limit sign. Once a speed limit sign is put up, going over that speed then becomes a breaking of the law.

The knowledge of the law is what kills us, and sin kills us. When we know the law, our intellect begins to interpret what our senses pick up. We end up giving authority to things based on face value, not the truth. We must get to a place of where we have to decide who is the boss of our being. (Once we are saved, then we get to a point where we are not led by the letter of the law but by the spirit of the law, by love).

The unsaved are ruled by their feelings and body. Their emotions become the boss of their actions. They do things because it feels right, or their body craves whatever.

If a person’s mind is carnal, the person will try to find ways to do what they want, even if it isn’t in their best interest. Pastor Don gave an example of a person who has a limited amount left on their credit card, and needs to use that money to buy a few presents for others, and pay bills. The person tries on a dress, and says it looks good to them, feels good, and they simply must have the dress.  They will figure out ways to manipulate their finances so that they can get the dress, like if I don’t pay the electric until next week, or I won’t buy coffee for a month, then I can get the dress. If a person has a bit of Christianity in them, the may decide to use what little Bible knowledge they have (God will supply all their needs) and take the verse out of context. They may figure to trust God to take care of the difficulty, and buy the dress for themselves. They were ruled by their carnal insticts. While God will supply all their needs, the dress definitely is not a need, but an impulse purchase.

The mind will fall in line with whoever is the boss. We have all gotten angry when it hasn’t been in our best interests, pumping ourselves up to a point of passion that may have no basis in reality.

Pastor Don used an example about a person on a job who feels picked on by the boss. The person says to themselves, “If he picks on me one more time, I am going to quit. I am going to give him a piece of my mind.” (of course there are limited amounts of pieces of our mind, but that is another story). The boss comes up and says, “Hi, how are you?” (a general, non confrontational statement) The person explodes, “All right, that is enough of that, I quit!”

Truth be told, the quitting had nothing to do with what the boss said or didn’t say. It had everything to do with what thoughts the person was growing in their minds.

Our spirit is useless to us unless our spirit is transformed by the renewing of the Word.

An untrained spirit will go with whatever is the strongest in our being, our minds, our wills, our emotions, our flesh. The spirit man must determine which spiritual source it will obey. Because we deal with principalities and powers in the spiritual realm, we can either chose to go with God’s will, or we can allow any of the other spirits in the heavenly realm control our actions.

What we don’t see is more real than what we do see.

An unregenearted (unchanged, unsaved) spirit will contact the spirit realm and ask, who can satisfy this need (say the need for love and affection). A demonic spirit will say, I can do it quicker than a godly spirit We feel we need instant gratification, and we want it now. Sometimes the godly fulfillment happens in God’s timing and does not supply instant gratification. If we are not willing to wait for godly fulfillment, then what happens is that we settle for a demonic resolution, or settle for something that is not God’s best for us.

One other aspect that we work with is the filters in which we see the world. Often our perceptions are colored by our past, by what others have said or done to us, what our parents programmed into our beings. So two people can look at the same situation and see it vastly different because of the filters that they are using in their lives. Memories from 20 years ago can affect how we see a current situation, even though the situation is far removed from what our memories were. When we view the situation through these filters, we are not seeing the truth.

One classic example of how we see things is shown in Numbers Chapter 13. Moses sent the 12 spies into the promised land to spy out the land. Of those spies 10 came back with a bad (evil) report, and two came back with a positive report.

They were to bring back some of the fruit of the land – they did this. The fruit was so plentiful it took two men to carry back a bunch of grapes, they also bought pomegranates and figs.

Numbers 13:27-28 Then they told him, and said: “We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is it’s fruit. (This is the true part of their report) Nevertheless (Here is where doubt and unbelief enter in) the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there. (Anak is part of the giants, and it is from the various ites in the land that Goliath would come – it is true that the people in the land were strong – but that does not mean that they can’t be defeated if God says that He can bring the people into the promised land. They used their human perception and the filter of their fears to view the situation. There is nothing wrong with presenting the facts, it is the conclusion of the facts that changed the course of their wanderings). Numbers 13:33 There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight. (They used their own vision and beliefs to minimize what God could do, figuring they would have to do things in their OWN power.) But in Mark 11:22 Jesus tells the disciples “…have faith in God.”

Even though God delivered them out from Egypt, defeated Pharoah, showed vast signs and wonders, the Israelites still chose to believe the bad report of the spies, and not trust that God could do as He said. In fact they were going to stone Caleb and Joshua who said Numbers 14:8-9 If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land which flows with milk and honey. Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them.” (Now they had the true picture). Because the Israelites believed the lie and did not have faith in God, they were destined to wander in the wilderness until they all died off and their children would see the promised land. The only two original Israelites who set foot in the promised land were Joshua and Caleb who chose to believe God.

As we grow in faith, we must become aware of what words come out of our mouth. For from our mouths we speak either blessings or curses. As we grow, we can begin to conteract a negative statement, asking forgiveness by God and replacing it with a positive, or as we get more attuned to what we say, we can stop it with a thought. As we grow even more, the thoughts do not enter our mind. (In a previous Bible study, Pastor Don suggested carrying around a taperecorder and recording what we say, then listen to it to begin to be aware of what negative words might be coming out of our mouths.

Our spirit will support what we say with our mouths, so best to say what God says. Romans 4:17 “…God who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did.” God caused creation to occur with his words, and we emulate God, by using our words to call things into existence. Everything we see comes from the unseen, for everything we know in the physical was spoken into existence by God.

Our spirits are going to pull from the spiritual realm what we are calling with our mouths. The more Word of God that we get into us, the greater our ability to apply the Spirit of God to our situations.

It is here that Pastor Leon added some thoughts to clarify. I will share those with you tomorrow.
