  • The Beth Moore Patriarch study is incredible. On the first lesson we were talking about Abram leaving the land of UR. And Beth Moore suggested that we all have our Ur’s that we have to leave to follow God. Then she suggested something that blew my mind:

UR could mean our Usual Routines. Boy do I have some URS that I can leave.

Later today I will try to type some notes for you, but to be honest, I am also trying to clean my house. Too bad the housework cannot take care of itself so that I could study more. And believe me, I would have my nose in the Bible way more if housework did not interfere.

Unfortunately I don’t think that focusing on God will cause housework to follow, without a bit of my own elbow grease. My vacuum cleaner is in serious need of bonding.

  • lol on the housework!   i think yer feeets are gonna get mighty cold arent’ they?  perhaps we should invest in some woolen sox and staple them on? hmmmmm?

yes, we got patches home and he is just an incredibly loving little dude!  melded right in with the other dogs……i am thankful.

may god bless yer day (and the housework) real good, m’dear! <3 bette

  • Yeah, that’s a good thought about what we need to leave to follow God.

  • hahhahaa I know what you mean!!! My vacuum cleaner is also in need of bonding with me!!!!

Have a blessed day, Heather, in all you do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    love you!!!

  • Thank you for coming to my site! It made me so excited and happy! This stuff is all new to me and I am not really sure what I am doing yet. It took me awhile to figure out how to respond back to you. You have put a spring in my step today. The day didn’t start out very well but in God’s mercy, as the day goes on, it is getting better. This is so cool.
I too have much housework that I am avoiding but alas it must be done! I found for me that if I put the radio on with either Christian music or some of my favorite preachers while I clean it helps me to keep focused. I must admit thou I do love housework because it is a time I am getting something that needs to get done that doesn’t take a lot of thinking so I can focus on conversation with my best friend Jesus. It seems that the Holy Spirit likes to give me revelations when I am doing laundry, mopping floors or taking a shower. Go figure. Maybe that is why God so graciously blessed me with 5 boys, legal guardianship over my oldest son’s girlfriend (so 1 girl) 3 cats, 2 dogs, a 55 gallon fish tank, a garden and my best friend on THIS earth my husband! With that list I know it sounds like I am busy and I am but God has giving me plenty of opportunity to interact with Him . Now if I would just use it! All my kids are in school now so my days are mine. Kinda.
I hope to hear from you soon and maybe you can guide me to other people on here that want to fellowship. I myself have been in a struggle to leave things ( and yes even some people) behind that are keeping me from a closer relationship with God. It can be hard but isn’t great to know He is so patient with us?
    Love in Christ

  • When God called Abram, he moved out in faith from Ur to Haran and finally to Canaan. God promised to bless Abram and make him great, but there was one condition, Abram had to do what God wanted him to do. This meant leaving his home and friends, his comfort zone. God is always trying to lead us to a place of greater service and usefulness for Him. We can’t allow the comfort and security of our present position to cause us to miss God’s plan for us.

Stay encouraged in your walk of faith and Remember, God Loves You And So Do We. *******

  • Good to hear that you are enjoying that book study.  It might be a good one for me to suggest to my sweet wife to try for the women’s study group she leads.  Thanks.

Sounds like what you need is an “Automatic House” like the one in the Jetson’s cartoon series that cleans all the messes up by itself.  I really enjoyed watching that when I was younger.  Too bad they don’t have those kinds of cartoons anymore for the kids, huh?  Well, I guess there is always a DVD of the older ones.

    God’s blessings!      Zee Marketspice Meister…                    :>)

  • Housework…………sighs…………………..one thing I DO praise GOD I dont have on a list of things to to do for awhile anyways……………HOPE your day is great! hugs

  • Just went over Abram/Abraham and the Genesis saga last night in my Old Testament survey course. Could URL mean “Usual Routines Linger? ;) ….interesting; just before reading your post above I was mentally scheduling a “vacuuming session” as I surveyed the remnants of a yarn/catnip toy the pet destroyed (bits of it literally all over the house). I know one thing for sure…..
when we have messes, it’s God who blesses

  • Thank you for your compassion.:0)

    Love.

  • Yea, the housework got to get done.  It just doesn’t do itself.  Hope your day is going well!!!!

  • ryc it will be interesting to see what happened and why.  and perhaps a bit sad to see what might have been.  You know for those who aren’t there and we wonder why.  ryp there definately are those little duties that must be accomplished each day.  Most of them do allow for our brains to be busy elsewhere so they aren’t all bad.

  • I want to do the Patriarch study soooo bad!Beth Moore is such an incredible woman of God and teacher! I still havent done Believing God.2 Bible studies at my church did it,and a friend of mine thougth this was her best. I think the Patriarch will be excellent too!

  • “Usual Routines” Hmmm, that really is some food for thought. What is my UR and what do I need to leave behind as I seek to follow the Lord. I certainly hope you finish that housework so you can post more on this. I waiting very “im” patiently. LOL

    Blessings ~Margie

  • Indeed the LORD is good and worthy to be praised. He blesses us with great and unmeasurable blessings. Even when we don’t deserve it. He has done so much… How can we seek anything else but to serve Him with our whole hearts, lives, minds, strength, etc. But we know that even for that, it is He who empowers us to will and to do according to His pleasure and purpose. The simplest obedience in my life is as a result of His enabling power. I thank God for His Spirit who lives in me. May I make Him a proud Father….

  • lol welp I hope u have fun with that housework!  Thanks for your comment!  I didn’t know you grew up with abuse…..that is such a devastating thing.  It just breaks my heart to hear about it! Welp I hope you have a good day, and a great weekend!  God bless you!

  • Can’t wait to see the notes!! I’m with you I have several UR’s I need to leave behind. God bless you.

  • Hi Heather! I love the UR meaning………..”usual routines”. I am even now in the midst of a season of leaving the usual, for the UNusual. In just about every area of life there is major change and shift going on, and I am learning to “get my sea legs” with Jesus in a whole new way! And I think He’s not even going to escort me back to the boat (as He did with Peter). He’ll probably just SINK it so I won’t be tempted to even look back!!!!!! Blessings to you, Becky :)

  • Hello,

    Thank you for your prayers.

    Atoy

  • Oh how I wish they offered the bible study at night. My mom and sister said it is terrific.  Just stopped by to say hi and I hope you have a great Saturday!! :) Thank You for continue to pray for me. The temp job I had ended yesterday and even tho’ I know it was temporary and it was really sad to leave because of the friends I have met. I really was able to talk about God and share my testimony with them and they are Christians. So needless to say I know I can visit them but it was hard to go.

That’s okay I am still praying about the job at the church and if I don’t get that one I know My loving Father will take care of us.

Have a great day!! Bleesings to you on this great day. <><~

    ~Cathy~

  • Amen sister….I’ll be doing the same once I’m off here.

    In Christ,

    Mary

  • Bonding time with the vaccum, eh?

  • i thought that the way u said bonding with the vacccuum cleaner was funny!

  • Hey Heather!  Thought I’d say hi to you!  Idk why I keep missing getting on your site lately, but know that I haven’t forgotten you!  Thank you for being there! Take care and God Bless you!  Lovins, E

  • yeah, I’m with you on the house cleaning thing.  I’m all worn out, now!

I have not done the Patriarchs bible study of Beth Moore’s.  Have just finished up the Fruit of the Spirit one.  It was really good (as are all of them I’ve done).

The last session had a lot in it about modern day women being a slave to what the media tells us our body images should be.  Sounds like obsession with their bodies could be a modern day UR for a lot of women.

  • ((hugs)) Good luck with the housework!

Forgiveness is extremely important. Thank you for that fantastic point.

    xo

  • are you a housewife heather? just wondering…
