The past three days I haven’t been on Xanga much, but for good reason. Pastor Don was doing his annual prophesy conference. This is a conference not only for Christians, but for any others who might be interested, so that they can see how accurately the Bible Prophesies are, and thus be saved. I took copious notes, web site info, etc, and will share what I can with you over the next few days. There are some things I want to verify, and if you have any information regarding what I share that adds more depth to what is being shared, I would love to hear from you. It is sure feeling closer and closer to the end times.
This will be long, so I will do it in parts.
Day One
Pastor Don brought us to Matthew 24, pretty much the whole chapter.
First Jesus talks about the Temple in verse 2, saying, “….assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”
This prophesy came true in 70 A.D., about 40 years after Jesus’s death. The Jews rebelled and the Roman soldiers came to bring them under control. The soldiers were under strict orders not to destroy the temple. In those days, the temple was splendid, decked in gold covered walls, with golden tools for the altar and many costly items within. The Roman captain wanted to preserve the riches. The Jews were in siege, and they would sneak out through hidden tunnels and kill Roman soldiers. More soldiers died than in most of the previous battles, which infuriated the soldiers. When they realized what was happening an awful battle happened. During the scuffle, there was a fire, and the gold melted. The gold flowed between the cracks of the stones that comprised the temple walls. The Roman’s were instructed to tear the temple down stone by stone and scrape the gold out. By the time the gold was removed there was no stone of the temple standing. The only remaining part of the temple was an outer wall, that is now known as the wailing wall.
V. 3 Jesus’ disciples ask Him what would the sign of His coming be, and of the end of the age. and Jesus replies in verses 4-8 “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, “I am the Christ” and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled, for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these things are the beginning of sorrows.”
We can see some of this happening now with the New Age movement. Many are walking around saying that they have the Christ consciousness, and some even claim to be Christ. Before the 1980′s and 90′s the teaching was different and some claimed to be god, but now there are massive numbers claiming to be Christ. Christ means anointed one. V. 6 wars – we have more wars and people killed on our planet today than combined wars of the past. We do not hear about all the wars, but there are tons.
Regarding v. 7 nation (it comes from a Greek word that means ethnic group). In Jesus’ time when these prophesies were made, many of the countries that exist today were not in existence. This was his way of pointing out that there would be battles world wide. When the Roman soldiers would conquer lands often the soldiers would have sex with the women, produce offspring and carry on, we did not have the sense of ethnic groups, racial prejudice, that we have today. It was just country against country, and who paid taxes to whom, and was subservient to whom.
During the prophesy conference (later on) Pastor Don will share hard statistics, but for now let it suffice to say that there is an increase in the frequency and deaths from earthquakes, unpredictable weather, weather patterns changing, pollution on the planet, cataclysmic events.
There are wars and rumors of wars. There are many boundary disputes in the Middle East, Africa has civil war, and battles are being fought.
Increase in knowledge. It is no mistake that we live in what is called the information age, and our knowledge is increasing exponentially. We have instant access to much through the computer.
People are hated for Jesus’ sake. These days more martyrs for the faith have died, than at any time in the past.
It is apparent that there are many false prophets, and many are found to be false. Our crime rate has increased, because lawlessness abounds. This is will be shown as very apparent, from the date that the 10 commandments was removed from the classroom.
And with our telecommunications and ability to travel, more of the world has had a chance to have the gospel preached to their population.
There are more signs these days fulfilled than at any other time in the world.
Pastor Don pointed out what a bold prophesy this was from a no-name Jewish carpenter. How could He know that his words would spread world wide. In those days it was several day’s journey to travel the distance we can do in a few minutes in a car.
After Christ died, we went through a period known as the church age, but the prophesy clock started up on May 15, 1948.
This date is very important for it was the date of the return of the Jewish people to Israel. When the temple was destroyed in 70 AD, many thousands of Jews were put to the sword, and the remaining ones who survived were dispersed across the world a few thousand to many places. No other country who was similarly destroyed ever re-emerged as a country except Israel. And no other country so destroyed ever retained their native language. Pastor Don asked if anyone spoke Amorite, Jebusite, or any of the other ite languages of the Old Testament. Usually with such rampant destruction a whole culture dies out, but this is not the case for Israel.
Here were some of the prophesies that illustrate the return of the Jews to Israel.
Isaiah 11:11 It shall come to pass in that day that the Lord shall set His hand again the second time to recover the remnant of His people who are left. From Assyria and Egypt, from Pathros and Cush (Africa), from Elam and Shinar (China) from Hamath and the islands of the sea.
This happened twice, once the rebuilding of the Temple, and now, in 1948 it occurred again with the Zionist movement.
Jeremiah 30:3 “For, behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord,” that I will bring back from captivity My people Israel and Judah”, says the Lord, “And I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.”
Deut. 4: 27-28 And the Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where the Lord will drive you. And there you will serve gods, the work of men’s hand, wood and stone, which neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell.
Again this happened several times in Jewish history, and most recently many are scattered, and in our modern world there are still idols worshipped.
Deut 4: 30-31 When you are in distress, and all these things come upon you in the later days, when you turn to the Lord your God and obey His voice, (For the Lord your God is a merciful God), He will not forsake you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them.
Again this prophesy came to pass several times in the history of the Jews, and will again come to pass in the end days, when God will gather his precious people back to Him.
Amos 9:10 All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, Who say, “The calamity shall not overtake nor confront us.”
We do have a choice. We can hide our heads in the sand, ignore the prophesies and believe that they will not occur, or we can look at the prophesies and take comfort because God has everything under control.
The prophesies are not to cause fear and trembling, but rather to provide hope, encouragement and an eye opening for people who refuse to believe until they see the prophesies occurring.
False prophets (Jim Jones, David Korech, etc) and most insidious the New Age.
Famines (Africa, Ethiopia, Sudan)
Earthquakes; between 1890-1900 there was only one major earthquake, now we get hundreds per year.
It is getting late, so I will continue tomorrow with the prophesies about the fig tree returning.
Hope you have a blessed day.

i don’t know very much about eschatology, but i gather you believe what tim lahaye(left behind series) believes. i forget the terminology, but anyway, i am curious…how this knowledge affects our Christian living today. i am not sure how much we should or should not focus on the end times, but i sure do believe Jesus will return one day. the question is, how are we to live in sync with biblical prophecy and eschatology, and how much should we emphasize it in our lives? from what i remember, im sure the 1st century christians in peter and paul’s day believed the world was coming to an end also.

I just posted my answers to the five questions you answered……enjoy! Have a great holiday!

Hi Joy,
There were quite a few times in the Gospel when Jesus talks with the scribes and pharisees about the end times. He uses the fig tree illustration (that will be shared next time I write), and often He was genuinely puzzled that those who should know the scriptures did not do the calculations to realize what Daniel prophesized about the coming of the Messiah. How Daniel’s prophesy had it down to the minute, and how Israel rejected Him. He asks the people how they can predict a storm, but can’t see the signs of the times. I want to make sure I am aware of the signs of the times.
He tells his people to watch the signs and read the signs. Sure, we will not know the exact moment of Jesus’ coming, we will not know exactly what will happen when, but we can be sure that what will happen is what God had his prophets write down. We need to be watchful, like the 5 virgins who had their lamps trimmed and had extra oil. We are to be watchful like the servants in the Master’s house, we are not to sleep, or tarry.
It does mean that we have to be prepared, but not scared, for God has things in control. Now if the end times come now, or hundreds of years from now, I do not want God to come and find me unprepared. Regarding what we need to emphasize in our lives, I think that it is the same things that we must emphasize if there are end times around the corner or way in the future. We are to follow the commandments Jesus laid out, to Love God with all our hearts, souls and mind, and to love each other as ourselves. We are to reach out to the lost, share the Gospel and live our lives. But it is foolish not to be prepared also.
An interesting study is how many of the Old Testament prophesies have been fulfilled to the letter. Some of them rather unusual, and surprising. God has plainly told us what He wants us to know in the Bible. It would be foolish to not pay attention to what God is saying. I most certainly am not going to walk around the streets with a sign saying, “The world will end tomorrow.” But at the same time, too many indicators seem to be implying that more of God’s prophesies are close to being fulfilled.
There are already plans for a new temple to be built in Jerusalem (a temple that later in Revelation will be violated by antichrist). There is now a new Sanhedrin, various nations are now gathering against Israel. Just the facts of the nation of Israel reforming after 2000 years of being scattered, is something that should make someone sit up and take notice.
I will be sharing other things later on that my be helpful to you. But if God writes it in His book, I can bank on the fact that He feels it is important for us to study.
Heather
Thanks!!!!!!
End times…interesting.
When I was very young (and very bored in church) I would just read Revelation over and over again during the sermons. By far the most interesting book in the Bible, in my opinion.
Hi, thanks for commenting on my site. By far, my favorite camping recipe is to add my favorite veggies and cheese to ground up hamburger, add a little butter, and wrap it all in foil and throw it on the coals. You can do this with chicken, too. Beef takes about 45 minutes and chicken takes about an hour. Turn it over in the coals about halfway through. Hope this helps!
Thanks for stopping by and for subscribing. I hope my posts will be encouraging to you. Thanks for the birthday wishes as well. Have a great 4th. In Him, Debbie
wow heather, thanks for such a whole-hearted response. (swallowing all that data…)

this is some interesting information. i wonder how far this plan to build the new temple has come. and a new Sanhedrin? wow…
thanks for your post….God Bless
Hi Joy,
The Sanhedrin came into office early this year. And now they have a red heifer, which is necessary for purification of the temple. Pastor Don says they, with modern building methods could put up a temple in about 3 1/2 years. But right now they are still in planning stages, but already the tools for the temple have been being made.

Thank you for stopping by my site. We won’t talk about house work!! LOL ;o) I will be posting a plan on Tuesday–well maybe I should say–my goals!!
Something interesting to note. The renewed state of Israel is supposed to be a refuge for all Jews. All Jews are welcomed to automatically become citizens of Israel … EXCEPT MESSIANIC JEWS! While many Messianic Jews believe they are the remnant promised, Orthodox Jews believe they gave up their inheritance when they came to believe Jesus is the Messiah. Though not religious one bit, for some reason, the Israeli gov’t takes the Orthodox stance when it comes to Messianic Jews. As the state of Israel is now, they still do not allow God to be sovereign. The day they begin welcoming Messianic Jews to make Aliyah with open arms is a day I will stand up and take notice.
hope all is well with you! have a great day!
Interesting, Leigh Ann. So we’re Israelites who are not welcome to become… Israeli citizens. Sad, that.
Thanks for this post Heather. Will be keeping an eye out for the rest.
Isaiah 11:11…? That’s my number!!!!
you make that recipe then put in casserole dish…very yummy
